Hello - while I have been laid up over the last week or so, ill, I downloaded the Apple SDK for the iPhone / iPad and have started to have a little play. It's a good kit, with useful tools and testing software (including a full emulator for each device). Joining the developers network only cost $99 - a one off fee - and allows you to publish appropriate stuff to the AppStore in iTunes.
Being a bit of an Apple geek, and waiting breathlessly for an iPad as well, I thought I would try out doing a game or game aid on the device.
  My initial ideas:
  1) something like a character generator for d20 OGL / D&D 3.5 - obviously I'd just start off using a limited data set (haven't looked into it in detail yet though). Perhaps also do a Pathfinder RPG one as well (or if it would be allowable do one covering more than one ruleset! I mean if you had one of the devices, were a tech-head and liked lots of different RPG's wouldn't you want one programme that could generate characters for lots of your games at once?? Call of Cthulhu, RQ2, D&D, T&T, B5, Serenity etc....
  2) a game along the lines of "Fearsome Floors" - simple movement, randomised creature reactions etc.. Could be any theme really - Cthulhu, Zombies, Creature swarms etc.. Just reeeally simple - probably the best one to start with....
  3) PBM mechanic - one player starts, next player takes turn, third and so on. Haven't thought this one through yet.
  4) Bluetooth enable "virtual" card game - something along the lines of magic / call of cthulhu etc  played between people on their phones.
Loads of other ideas will on my sick bed.
I wondered if anyone fancies helping out with this little project? You never know, we might accidentally make a hit! We'd definitely learn stuff though and hopefully have some fun doing it...
