Meanwhile back at the library, Barrigan casts a true seeing spell to help spot the invisible creatures and Taran snaps out of his stunned state to kill the invisible stalker attacking the squire. Corinne then shouts out that one is attacking her, Galvish runs over and helps kill it off.  The squire heads to the upper balcony to try and confront the mage who is no doubt hiding invisibly up there, just as a 40’ long creature erupts out of the floor, drawing the attention of the others.  It appears to be a cold creature but has a row of red hot spines on its back.  The fighters lay into it with their swords as Corinne casts magic missiles at it.  It soon dies and Taran moves up to the balcony where the squire has located the evil mage and has him cornered, but not before two summoned hydras appear at the lower level, each has eight heads and keep Galvish, Barrigan and the suddenly reappeared paladin busy.  Taran has cast true seeing to spot the mage who has cast a spell which keeps a giant hand between him and us.  The mage manages to get away and holds Galvish in some spell although not before he had slain the hydra he was attacking.  Taran and the squire spot him and Taran pursues along the balcony before he falls down unconscious after triggering some vile symbol, the squire rushes to his aid and prevents him from dying.  A huge earth elemental has now appeared on the library floor which keeps Lanneus and Carinne busy, Barrigan tries to help but finds his weapons ineffective.  
Up on the balcony Krachtig suddenly appears having cast a spell at the mage.  The squire and Taran have Blacksoul cornered and the fight is on, devastating spells are cast, like chain lightning, fireball and the like.  Galvish and Barrigan join the battle.  The squire takes massive damage from a fireball and perishes, Galvish is knocked unconscious, but through punishing attacks and Corinnes arrows we beat the evil foe down.
We take a while to heal up and search through the library and find many magic tomes.

We finally dimension fold back to Skullport after raising the squire and hand over the books the rebels at Skullport had requested.
