Back to the Giant Citadel

We depart from the Giants citadel being low on spells and hit points and get back to Jans Landing safely.  From there we rest up and relearn our spells in preparation for the return to the Giants lair where we will attempt to eradicate our foe.
Taran finds a letter addressed to him whilst at Jans Landing and has a thoughtful look on his face while reading this private missive, the letter is in a womans handwriting but he declines to share the contents with others in the party including his family members.
We decide to reenter the giants lair in the room where we had previously encountered the mountain lions.  This time some giants and a bunch of owl bears are in there. We find these creature are quite dangerous, when both arms hit they can hug for extra damage, they also have a wickedly sharp beak.  We are beating these creatures down when one of the last giants opens a doorway and shouts through – no doubt summoning reinforcements.
Sure enough moments later a group of human guards rush in while elven archers fire many arrows at us.  There is also a giant spellcaster adding to the havoc, but once again we kill off this foe and advance further into their lair.  More archers assail us and giants pour out of adjoining rooms.  Earlier Carinne had downed a potion of speed and her multiple attacks coupled with her hatred of giants starts to swing the fight our way.  In an unfortunate turn of events most of the major fighters in the party encounter a slippery patch on the floor and start stumbling and become entangled in their weapons, this coupled with a fresh group of owlbears prolongs the battle, but finally we emerge triumphant and start to explore the citadel even further.
At the top of a staircase we are assailed by rocks and lightning bolts by giants at the bottom, we launch a couple of fireballs then charge down to engage the enemy.  Once more Carinne is in the thick of the fighting, along with Saeryn and Lanneus.  Taran is kept busy at the top of the stairs healing up the other combatants.
We fight our way into the room only to have Barrigan disappear with what is probably a maze spell.  Also another group of owlbears manage to kill off Saeryn with a strike straight to her heart.  The fighting becomes desperate with more giants arriving, Krachtig throws a playing card into the room and a massive Red Dragon appears which causes some of the party to splutter in shock before they realize who had summoned this fell beast, as we did not hear the Gnomish war cry Armageddon.
Soon Derek is mortally wounded when a Giant beats him down. We are in serious trouble when both Galvish and Taran are knocked down and Lanneus lies in a pool of blood, but luckily Barrigan has reappeared and quickly heals up Taran and Galvish so they can reenter combat.  Krachtig is under serious assault from a huge giant and Taran steps in to hopefully deliver the death blow to the giant but one swing misses horribly and the Giant whirls around to maul him.  Through a combination of attacks the last Giant is some sort of priest who Carinne is facing in a doorway.  The giant withdraws but we implore the Ranger that it is time to leave as we have dead and wounded and are seriously depleted on healing spells.
We arrive once more at the safety of Jans Landing and bring our dead comrades back to life, we heal ourselves once more and fold back to the giants lair at the last room we were in.  All is quiet.  We start to explore deeper into the area and come across a group of giants including the cook who throws a mean cleaver.  Carinne hastes the party and we erupt in a whirl of blades.  Carinne cries out after she is blasted with a lightning bolt and swarmed by more owlbears.  We rush to her aid in the adjoining room and Barrigan and Taran engage the Giant mage, with a warning to Galvish to stay back as there is a cold shield around the giant and their protective magics will keep them safe.
After killing off the mage a priest appears and casts a spell at Barrigan who is unaffected, before he can be attacked a group of female giants step into the corridor and have to be slain before we kill the priest.
Eventually we have killed off the last of the giants and their human and elf allies and the hordes of owlbears. We are free to loot the complex.
