Highway Robbery

We are visited by the shiny blue paladin from the rebel camp. He has a proposition for us.  He has information of a large wages delivery to the Barelin forces.  These are scheduled for the forces at the Capital of Ilorin.  The terms for receipt of this information is a 25% cut for the rebel forces and a 25% cut for the Garithian side.  If we take on this mission we could be very wealthy indeed.  A ship will deliver the money to the West of the island where it will be escorted back to the capital.  We should intercept it overland.
Scouts are dispatched.  It is a long time for Krachtig to report back but he has found their encampment and determined their numbers.
We cast around for a good ambush space and find a suitable spot by the river.
There are 4 oxen each pulling 4 wagons and around 40 guards and mages and priests.  The best part though is the General who betrayed us at Lomboko is with the group.  We buff up and summon two elementals to assist us.  With a fireball launched into their midst we start the attack.  Each of the fighters attack a part of the caravan concentrating on the spellcasters.  The paladin soon disappears as a result of a spell, likely in a maze.  Four hellhounds are with the guards and they soon perish but not before inflicting some wounds on our party.  The two elementals disappear one after another, the result of a mighty priestly spell.
Galvish soon grows confused and instead of attacking the general turns on the squire and with his vorpal sword separates his head from his shoulders.  Barrigan is laying waste to the guards and priest he faces while Taran and Saeryn are in the thick of a large fight facing one of the main priests.  Taran ferociously attacks the priest, who heals himself then tries to retreat from the combat, he gets to the stream and casts a spell and disappears.  Taran then turns his attention to the guards and in a dazzling feat of swordplay manages to cut off his own hand, slowing him down a little.  Galvish then comes after Taran but is stopped in his tracks with the removal of the spell which confused him.  Saeryn is carving large chunks out of people with her massive sword before one of the enemy lops off her foot.  There must be something about this family.
The body count around Barrigan continues to grow and soon the General goes toe to toe with him.  Mighty blows are exchanged and Barrigan is the one left standing.
No-one has seen Krachtig since the start of combat but some summoned spiders, flame arrows and a couple of guards trapped in an invisible ball would suggest he is moving around doing his thing.
Carinne has been casting a succession of spells to even the odds and after blasting one of the wagons to kill the guards, flies over to stun the mage with a powerful dweomer.
After the general falls the last remaining priest fancies his chances with Barrigan, he soon changes his mind with a flurry of blows and beats a retreat through a magic portal, although an axe flung by the dwarf catches the retreating character in the back and probably kills him.
Two of the ox drawn wagons have been moving away from the combat and Krachtig tries to delay them by paralyzing the oxen.  This slows them down, but when a magic portal opens on the trail, courtesy of the priest who fled the battle earlier, Carinne casts a wall of ice to block the path.  They are successful in getting one wagon away and several of the guards on the second one grab a chest each and stumble through another portal before we can reach them.
In the aftermath of the fight we reattach limbs and check the vast quantity of gold we have.
Only foreseeable problem is that our names will go on a wanted poster.  Krachtig must feel overjoyed with all the attention he is receiving.
