Portent of Doom

The penultimate Battle Pack in The Bloodquest Cycle for Warhammer: Invasion

Archaon believes in the prophesy of Necrodomo the Insane: that whomever collects the six treasures of Chaos will unleash its awesome power and bring the world to an end… Of the six treasures of Chaos, Archaon has collected five…

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Portent of Doom, the penultimate Battle Pack in The Bloodquest Cycle for Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game!

Bloody war rages across the Old World. Forces of order and Chaos collide in bone-shattering battles. Casualties lie strewn across the battlefields, their names forever lost and forgotten, and the tide of war swings first one way, then the other. While ancient enemies struggle, sweat, and bleed to gain more solid and permanent footing, each army seeks the means to conquer its foes. The course of history may be decided by those few individuals tasked with these deadly quests – to find Artefacts of power, to recover them as weapons to be employed in the heat of battle!

Portent of Doom continues to develop the focus on material rewards for quests that pervades The Bloodquest Cycle. The 60 cards (3 copies each of 20 different cards) in this Battle Pack provide players their first Portent, the Eye of Sheerian (Portent of Doom, 81), as well as units, support cards, and tactics that hasten questing. You’ll find ways to protect those units you send questing (and others), an Empire unit capable of filching your rivals’ resources, and a fearsome new Chaos legend.

Eye of Sheerian

It is said that whoever brings the Eye before the Gateway of the Old Ones will unleash the hordes of Daemons that are beyond it.

    –Warhammer: Champions of Chaos

One of the six treasures of Chaos, the Eye of Sheerian is an incredibly ancient jewel that holds great power over the flow of magic, and its appearance in Portent of Doom will soon help your Hero or legend to control the flow of your opponent’s deck.

A natural fit for any deck focused on deck destruction, the Eye of Sheerian does more than allow you to discard two of your opponent’s cards each turn. It allows you to discard the best two of your opponent’s top five cards. In a deck with targeted unit removal, such as the Blood Dragon Knight (Legends, 53) or Offering to Hekarti (The Fourth Waystone, 97), the Eye of Sheerian is even stronger. If you can remove power from your opponent’s Quest zone, you can stall him for turns by feeding him the most useless cards in his deck. If you bleed units out of his Kingdom zone, you can choke his ability to play cards, letting him draw only cards he can’t afford or that you’ll be able to destroy on your next turn. For your opponent, your early play of the Eye of Sheerian may spell the beginning of the end.

The Eye isn’t cheap, though, at four cost, especially when you consider that you have to first have a Hero or legend in play to attach it. But there are ways in The Bloodquest Cycle for players to fetch such powerful Artefacts from their decks and play them for free.

Gaze upon the Eye of Sheerian and the other cards comprising Portent of Doom when this Battle Pack arrives in the third quarter of 2012!
