From The Wall to Oldtown

Reprints Now Available of Eighteen Classic Chapter Packs for A Game of Thrones

“I trusted in his wisdom and your wiles, and what did they avail me, smuggler? The storm lords sent you packing. I went to them a beggar and they laughed at me. Well, there will be no more begging, and no more laughing either. The Iron Throne is mine by rights, but how am I to take it? There are four kings in the realm, and three of them have more men and more gold than I do.”

–Stannis Baratheon, A Clash of Kings

War and intrigues have taken the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros by storm. Likewise, gamers worldwide have been caught up in the excitement of A Game of Thrones: The Card Game. This fantastic card game of wars, treachery, and politics continues to resonate with fans of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, and it continues to be one of our top-selling games.

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce that we are releasing reprints of three classic cycles, King’s Landing, Defenders of the North, and Secrets of Oldtown. These eighteen chapter packs are once again available at retailers everywhere and online through our webstore!

King’s Landing

King’s Landing is the heart of the Seven Kingdoms, and the home of the Iron Throne. It is a city of lies, a city of treachery, a city of deceit. The shadows of King’s Landing hide secrets that influence and dictate the future of Westeros, and these shadows have come to A Game of Thrones.

King’s Landing develops the Shadows mechanic, allowing for strategies built around secrecy and control. Cards with the Shadows crest can be played into Shadows, a game state neither in a player’s hand nor yet in play. Cards in Shadows are immune to Intrigue and Military claim, as well as removal effects like that of the plot, Valar Morghulis. House Lannister leads the other Houses in its use of Shadows, using their networks of spies, traitors, and thugs to cajole and coerce the other Houses.

King’s Landing also introduces the City plots. These plots get stronger for each other City plot in your used pile, so that the more soundly you control the streets of King’s Landing, the more likely you’ll control the Iron Throne!

Defenders of the North

At the northern edge of the world, a gargantuan edifice of stone, magic, and ice stands over 700 feet in height. Manned by the sworn brothers of the Night’s Watch, this construct holds back the ominous threat of darkness spreading across the north. Welcome to The Wall…

Defenders of the North visits the the conflict between the Night’s Watch and the dangers that live north of The Wall. The Wildling threat grows ever nearer, but the brave men of the Night’s Watch are also learning that far worse creatures haunt the savage wilderness of the north.

Featuring characters like Mance Rayder, Old Bear Mormont, and Jon Snow, Defenders of the North allows for competitive decks built around the Night’s Watch and Wildling traits. The North agendas boost these neutral sub-factions, and make them powerful potential allies for any of the Great Houses.

Secrets of Oldtown

Secrets of Oldtown explores the guidance of the maesters of the Citadel, bringing the feel of “mind over matter” to A Game of Thrones. Instead of employing armies of huge strength and superior numbers, the maesters take a more cerebral approach to their work, preferring to work behind the scenes and out of harm’s way. Accordingly, the cycle is full of subtle synergies and interactions. At its heart is the agenda, The Maester’s Path, which allows a player’s Maester character to forge his chain, adding powerful abilities to the character’s counsel.

Maesters may be sworn to serve the realm. They may forswear their House loyalties and families, but as they serve the Houses to which they are assigned, they retain ties to the philosophies and Archmaesters of the Citadel of Oldtown. Featuring iconic characters like Magister Illyrio, Archmaester Marwyn, and Jaqen H'ghar, as well as an immersive Maester synergy, the Secrets of Oldtown cycle adds deep levels of immersion and strategy to your game.
