Rule the Seven Kingdoms

Join Us for the A Game of Thrones North American and World Championships!

“Remind your Good Master of who I am. Remind him that I am Daenerys Stormbom, Mother of Dragons, the Unburnt, trueborn queen of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. My blood is the blood of Aegon the Conqueror, and of old Valyria before him.”

Daenerys Targaryen, A Storm of Swords

The jousts and melees of the A Game of Thrones: The Card Game Regional Championship tournament season have nearly come to a close. Victorious knights take their winnings gladly while others nurse their bruises, curse their luck, and hope for the chance to show better in the next tourney. Now, lords and ladies congratulate the winners and turn their attentions toward House matters. The Seven Kingdoms sit on the brink of war. The Great Houses of Westeros each keep their eyes upon the Iron Throne…

While the Regional Championships have brought fame and glory to hedge knights and highborn contenders across the globe, the greatest struggles still lie ahead: Who will sweep across the Seven Kingdoms and A Game of Thrones at the North American Championship tournament? Who will seize the Iron Throne at the FFG World Championship Weekend?

North American Championships

The next step after the Regional Championships, our North American Championship tournament is a highly competitive, top-level event that draws participants from locations far and wide. The North American Championship features unique prize support and provides players their final chance to win first-round byes and free entry to our FFG World Championship Weekend in November.

This year, Gen Con Indy will play host to the A Game of Thrones: The Card Game North American Championships, beginning Friday, August 17th with the Melee tournament.

Players compete in the Gen Con Indy 2011 Melee Championship.

For those of you who might not be quite certain yet if you want to confront a direwolf in the frozen north or pull the lion’s tail during intrigues in the heart of King’s Landing, Fantasy Flight Games is also hosting an A Game of Thrones: The Card Game warmup tournament at Gen Con. Registration for this casual event begins Thursday the 16th at 3 pm, with tournament play to follow at 4 pm. This is a great opportunity to test your swordmanship in the training grounds.

A Game of Thrones: The Card Game World Championship

Ever dreamed of taking your rightful place atop the Iron Throne as the King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the Realm, and the first of your name? The A Game of Thrones: The Card Game World Championship tournament is your chance to earn your crown.

This November 9th – 11th, players from around the world will converge upon the Fantasy Flight Games Event Center in Roseville, MN to take part in the FFG World Championship Weekend. As the attendance of our championship-level events has grown, we have looked for a way to better showcase the best players for our LCGs and miniatures games at a venue where we could best focus our attention on the world-class participants of these events. In preparation for this event, we have secured extra space in the same building as the Fantasy Flight Games Event Center, ensuring room for hundreds of participants. Now, the World Championship Weekend represents a true hallmark in FFG Organized Play as we prepare to host champions from other nations and foster a truly global event!

Players who attend the A Game of Thrones World Championship will enjoy tremendous support for the game they love. We can direct more time, more staff, and more energy to this event, and we expect it to be an exciting, positive, and memorable experience.

Of course, there are prizes, too. Among these, the A Game of Thrones World Melee, Joust, and Overall Champions will each earn the chance to work with the Fantasy Flight Games design team to create a card. It’s an exciting opportunity to leave a lasting mark upon the game you love.

A Greater Agenda

After a Regional Championship season rich with stories, it’s time for players to pursue bold, new agendas!

Over the next few weeks, keep an eye to our website for an updated tournament rules document that will make new Chapter Packs available for future events. Then, come join Fantasy Flight Games for the North American Championship tournament at Gen Con Indy, and start gathering reports from your whisperers and envoys to outmaneuver the other Houses at the A Game of Thrones World Championships in November!
