The Great Houses are Chasing DragonsThe Third Chapter Pack from Beyond the Narrow Sea Is Now Available
Viserion’s tail lashed sideways, thumping the trunk of the tree so hard that a pear came tumbling down to land at Dany’s feet. His wings unfolded, and he half-flew, half-hopped onto the parapet. He is growing, she thought, as the dragon launched himself into the sky. They are all three growing. Soon they will be large enough to bear my weight.
–George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons
Chasing Dragons, the third Chapter Pack in the Beyond the Narrow Sea cycle for A Game of Thrones: The Card Game, is now available at your local retailer and online on our webstore!
The Great Houses continue to advance their intrigues throughout the Eastern continent of Essos, and Chasing Dragons follows their movements by introducing two new locations, two City plots, and sixteen new characters. Allies, knights, lords, refugees, and armies all make appearances, granting the Houses new means to reinforce old strategies, as well as the potential to pursue new avenues to power.

Championing the Lord of Light
Even while the Great Houses pursue the Iron Throne through battles, schemes, lies, new alliances, and treachery, some dedicate themselves to an entirely different war. The followers of R’hllor, the Lord of Light, prepare for what they believe is the greatest threat of all, far more concerning than who sits a throne in King’s Landing. The great war is coming; the forces of light and life must arm themselves for battle against the god of darkness and death.
The Red Queen’s Faithful (Chasing Dragons, 46) represent an Army of those believers dedicated to the Lord of Light, taking direction from the Red Priestess, Melisandre. The Army is expensive at seven cost, but each unique Baratheon character willing to join the cause reduces its cost by one. Once in play, The Red Queen’s Faithful bolsters your cause with Intrigue and Power icons and a mighty seven strength, and its Holy crest makes it particularly fearsome when backed by The Power of Faith (Kings of the Storm, 51).
Still, it is The Red Queen’s Faithful’s response that makes the Army a particular valuable force in the war against darkness. After you win a challenge in which The Red Queen’s Faithful participated, you can move up to three power from a player’s House card to a character that player controls. In the face of darkness and death, the games of politics and treachery that the Great Houses play in King’s Landing carry less meaning. If rival Houses won’t aid the war against darkness and invest, instead, in advancing their bid for the Iron Throne, they had best be certain none of their pawns become expendable, lest they find The Red Queen’s Faithful suddenly pins the House’s hopes upon one of its weakest and most vulnerable pawns.
Alternately, The Red Queen’s Faithful can aid those allied to its cause, like Beric Dondarrion (Illyrio’s Gift, 17) and other Brotherhood members. The Red Queen’s Faithful can target any player, including its controller, allowing you to move power off your House card and onto your Brotherhood characters. In this way, The Red Queen’s Faithful allows you to gain some of the greatest benefits from your Brotherhood characters without significantly reinventing your deck to avoid placing power on your House card.
