Stealing from the Rich and Giving to...AndromedaHumanity's Shadow Is Now Available for Android: Netrunner
“If you know what you’re missing, you only want it more.”
–Andromeda
Humanity’s Shadow, the fourth Data Pack for Android: Netrunner The Card Game, is now available at your local retailer!
When a handful of megacorps control the vast majority of human interests, it’s inevitable that they will be able to hire new employees from top-class talent pools that include many of the world’s best and brightest young minds. It’s also inevitable that these giant corporations will squeeze many of the world’s poor out of the limelight, push them into the shadows, and marginalize them. Many of these marginalized individuals will then make themselves available as resources to those elite hackers, known as runners, who are capable of slicing through even bleeding edge encryption systems.
In Humanity’s Shadow, sixty new cards (three copies each of twenty individual cards) heighten the tensions between the world’s richest corporations and the people who want to pick them open. They’ll find new uses for the Data Pack’s ice, icebreakers, hardware, events, and operations. But even as the game’s corps and runners seek to implement these new tools and strategies, Humanity’s Shadow reminds us that the ongoing cyberstruggles aren’t won with technology alone. Accordingly, you’ll find several unique, new individuals arriving to offer their inestimable talents…sometimes, for a price.

How much difference can one person truly make? The deck list below serves to highlight the distinctive talents of the new Runner identity arriving in Humanity’s Shadow, Andromeda (Humanity’s Shadow, 83).

Though she’s now a dispossessed ristie, Andromeda still retains the advantages of her education and upbringing. What she lacks are credits. More specifically, she lacks the sizable sums of credits she would like to see neatly invested in diversified portfolios like those her parents once controlled.
Accordingly, she has begun to wage economic warfare against the game’s corporations, and other individuals like Kati Jones have shown up to offer their assistance. Whether they mistakenly view Andromeda’s intentions as some noble form of justice, or whether they simply don’t care why Andromeda steals from the megarich, these sympathetic souls are happy to supply her with the resources, technology, and tricks she needs to hit the corporations where it hurts – their bank accounts.
Economic warfare is the name, theme, and primary mechanic of this deck. With Parasite (Core Set, 12), Emergency Shutdown (Cyber Exodus, 43), Account Siphon (Core Set, 18), Forged Activation Orders (Core Set, 20), Kraken, and Xanadu, it has the tools to starve any Corp player of credits. Then, all this economic warfare comes together in Andromeda’s unique ability, which allows her both to ramp up quickly to an early position of economic strength and hang onto the components she needs in order to strike against the Corporation’s defenses at key moments.

It’s worth noting that even though Andromeda’s ability doesn’t let her hold onto extra cards when the Runner’s turn ends, it does mean that you can mulligan back to nine cards if your first draw isn’t strong enough to turn the game’s cyberstruggles immediately in your favor.
