Over the course of its ninety-six pages, Beyond the Rim leads you from the corridors of the seedy hub-and-spoke space station known as the Wheel all the way to the very edge of Wild Space. There, you and your companions will explore distant planets, encounter fearsome jungle predators, and delve into mysteries that have remained unsolved for decades. Along the way, if you’re careful–and a little lucky–you’ll even find fame and fortune, as well as an opportunity to pay back old debts.
Layers of Intrigue
Written by veteran Star Wars adventure writer Sterling Hershey, Beyond the Rim takes a layered approach to its story as it engages with multiple Star Wars elements to weave a tale of mystery and exploration that truly feels like a Star Wars experience.
Over the course of their adventure, characters journey to the true edge of the Empire: the fringes of Known Space. They’ll be among the first to explore the dense jungles of Cholganna, and come face-to-face with the deadly nexu in its natural habitat. If you can get past the Imperial shipyards and TIE fighter patrols, you’ll have a chance to explore the junkyard planet and Outer Rim haven, Raxus Prime.
As you delve into the mystery of the Sa Nalaor, you’ll find elements from the Clone Wars era sharing scenes with others from the time of the New Republic. You may even witness B1 battle droids pitted against scout troopers or Imperial Security Bureau agents pursuing Separatist traitors.
Craft Your Own Adventures at the Edge of Wild Space
Beyond the Rim is also a highly customizable adventure. Storytelling is woven deep into the mechanics and heart of the Star Wars: Edge of the Empire roleplaying game, and Beyond the Rim was deliberately crafted to allow the GM as much freedom as possible to work with the players’ dice results. GMs will also find compelling suggestions for how they may use dice results at critical junctures to advance the adventure’s theme of exploration.
Additionally, GMs will find ideas and suggestions that can help them adapt the adventure for players who want a deeper or more personal connection to the story.
