Additionally, we have uploaded a low-res version of the FAQ (pdf, 967 KB) and the rulesheet for the Balance of the Force expansion (pdf, 2.2 MB), which introduces new rules for the 2v2 team play to be featured as a side event at the FFG World Championship Weekend.
Finally, developers Nate French and Erik Dahlman offer an overview of the recent changes and additions.
A Word from the Developers
Hello, Star Wars: The Card Game players!
With the game's first World Championship event just around the corner, we have updated the Frequently Asked Questions and Tourney Rules documents in preparation for the event.
In the FAQ, we have clarified the subtle distinction between a source "dealing damage,” which begins the damaging process, and a unit being "dealt damage, “which is the end of the process, when the damage actually makes it to the unit. This entry is primarily in response to questions regarding Chewbacca (Edge of Darkness, 319),
but it is a distinction worth bearing in mind when interpreting a number of card effects.
Additionally, we have added language to the FAQ that enables the “Protect” keyword to be followed by descriptors other than traits, to pave the way for some new cards that use this keyword to protect a wider range of entities. Finally, the Q&A section includes a number of official answers to the most frequent rules questions we have fielded, including important rulings on the cards Get Me Solo (The Search for Skywalker, 227), Trust Me (Edge of Darkness, 327), and Spice Visions (Edge of Darkness, 387).
The Tourney Rules introduce tournament guidelines for a new tournament format, 2v2, in which players enter and compete as partners in an attempt to win as a team. The rules for playing 2v2 games can be found in the Balance of the Force deluxe expansion set and the Balance of the Force rulesheet, which is now available on the game’s support page. Additionally, we have updated the list of legal card sets for the World Championship tournament next month. Good luck in your preparation, we're looking forward to seeing you all there.
