Last weekend was a big one for the Android: Netrunner Plugged-in Tour!
We ran half a dozen tour events in New York, Wisconsin, and Colorado. We met with enthusiastic crowds of players, held a half dozen tournaments, ran demos, and flatlined countless Runners with our Jinteki and Weyland Consortium challenge decks.
Yesterday, we presented the highlights from our stops in the Big Apple. Today, we turn our attention to the highlights from Petrie’s Family Games in Colorado Springs, CO.
Petrie’s Family Games – Colorado Springs, CO
Most of the players who attended the Plugged-in Tour event at Petrie’s Family Games were local or from the greater Denver metro, although the event still drew some players from outside Colorado and some who informed our staff that they planned to meet us again in Texas and then in Roseville, MN for the FFG World Championship Weekend.
The field of Runners was split much as we’ve seen across the nation, with Criminals and Shapers comprising the majority of the event. Andromeda was clearly the favorite Runner ID, as she was chosen by all but two of the event’s Criminals and earned half of the Top 8 results. Again, as we have across the nation, we saw another Whizzard deck make the Top 8.
The Corps were almost evenly split, though Jinteki enjoyed a slight advantage, with players building their decks around both identities, Personal Evolution and Replicating Perfection. Naturally, all these Jinteki players were really happy to see the new cards we revealed during our challenge matches, and they’re waiting eagerly to learn when these cards will be available at retailers.
Nathan Nabeta won the event with his Andromeda and Weyland Consortium decks. Interestingly, Nate had been out of the Android: Netrunner loop for about eight months and said his wife is the real Android: Netrunner player, but couldn't make it out to the tournament. When Nathan decided to plug-in for this tournament, he threw together a couple of decks based on popular builds, then played his way to the top, losing only two games, both as Corp.

Meanwhile, though our staff were available to judge the tournament, there were very few rules questions. Instead, most players were casual and knowledgeable enough to resolve their rules questions without requiring judges, so our staff used that time to play more staff challenges, racking up the kills with their special Weyland and Jinteki decks.
Despite being flatlined so frequently, participants enjoyed themselves and were happy to take advantage of the opportunity to speak with our staff about the game, FFG Organized Play, and our plans for the future.
We want to thank everyone at Petrie’s Family Games for hosting the event. The store was spacious and comfortable, and we can’t say enough nice things about Cameron Crawford, the manager, and Matt Dawkins, the tournament organizer. They treated our staff to breakfast and spoke with us about Android: Netrunner, our Game Night Kits, and the upcoming Regional Championship tournament season. Then, once the event got underway, Cameron and Matt were true pros! It was because they were so fully prepared and had the tournament running so smoothly that our staff were able to focus most of their energy on staff challenges.
Adding to The Collective
As the fates of Laramy Fisk and The Collective continue to hang in the balance, the vote at Petrie’s Family Games provided new hope to those Shaper fans looking to see the game’s first Cybernetic identity enter the game. Participants cast nearly twice as many votes in favor of The Collective as they cast for Laramy Fisk.

The votes helped close the gap between the two Runner identities, and while Laramy Fisk retains his lead, we’ll see every vote make a difference during the tour’s final events.
