True Colors, the fourth Data Pack in the Spin Cycle for Android: Netrunner, is now available at your local retailer and online through our webstore!
Its sixty new cards (three copies each of twenty individual cards) promote new strategies centered around the traces, tags, and bad publicity at the heart of the Spin Cycle, but they do so while marking a return to each faction’s core identity and tactics.
Never Run Empty-Handed
In True Colors, Runners associated with the game’s Criminal faction gain a pair of events that further emphasize the work they do to avoid taking unnecessary risks:
If you make a successful run on HQ, the knowledge you gain may give you power over the Corp. You just have to be willing to perform a bit of blackmail. Unless the Corp is willing to take two bad publicity, your Leverage (True Colors, 64) will prevent you from taking any damage until the beginning of your next turn. This can be handy when you want to explore those iced-up remote servers.
Meanwhile, even the most talented Runners stand a chance of getting tagged. Whether the Corp performs a trace, or you leave your signature all over a sloppy transfer of funds, it’s good to have a talented lawyer to back you up in your darkest moments. Laywer Up (True Colors, 63) is a strong card for the Criminal who acknowledges he may sometimes draw a tag or two. As a Double event, Lawyer Up will eat a large chunk of your turn, but it can remove up to two tags and allows you to draw three cards in a single play.
Access Denied
Since its construction of the space elevator, the Weyland Consortium has moved forward to develop other cutting edge facilities on Earth, the Moon, and Mars. In many ways, the corporation’s work has broadened the human experience, and it would have you believe that it is fully dedicated to opening up new vistas and exploring new frontiers.
However, the world’s most skillful Runners have come to recognize another side of the Weyland Consortium. On the network, the corporation is a closed fortress, sealed behind deadly sentries and iron walls, and it’s willing to kill to safeguard its most valuable secrets.
In True Colors, the Weyland Consortium gains two more cards with which it can ensure that its plans for continued expansion don’t fall into the wrong hands.
Curtain Wall (True Colors, 78) is a truly intimidating barrier, especially when it’s the outermost piece of ice protecting a server, and while its fourteen cost may appear prohibitive, it’s important to remember that the Weyland Consortium is the corporation that developed its own Oversight AI (A Study in Static, 79).
Still, because there are ways for the Runner to break or bypass any piece of ice, even one as mammoth as Curtain Wall, the Weyland Consortium is willing to authorize a Punitive Counterstrike (True Colors, 79) against anyone who would dare steal its most valuable secrets. The more valuable the secrets the Runner steals, the more lethal this card becomes, and as many players found out in challenge games against FFG staff members during the Plugged-in Tour, this can be a game-ending card.
