Prepare for Battle

Download the new FAQ and tournament rules for Warhammer: Invasion

The 2012 Regional Championship tournament for Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game has nearly arrived! Across the Old World, armies brandish their blades. Mounted cavalry rein in their steeds as they stamp and snort impatient for the upcoming bloodshed.

As the sunlight glints off the High Elves’ ithilmar and the malevolent visages of Chaos daemons, the game’s developers present you a comprehensive examination of the field of battle. The newest Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game FAQ 1.7 (pdf, 4.9 MB) and tournament rules (pdf, 6.7 MB) are now available for download.

You can also find these documents, along with a printer-friendly FAQ, on the game’s support page.

The new FAQ clarifies several important topics, introduces new errata, and makes other changes to help balance the metagame as players look forward to the upcoming Regional Championship season. The game’s lead developer offers additional insight.

About the new FAQ

Greetings Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game players,

This FAQ update includes new rules clarifications, errata, and frequently answered questions, as well as one new addition to the restricted list.

Most of the updates to this FAQ are important Rules Clarifications. “Leaving play” is addressed in detail to better resolve timing issues derived from cards with self-referential abilities that trigger after they leave play. We also expanded the definitions of “sacrificed” and “destroyed” to help explain how these terms interact with other abilities, and we further clarified how players trigger quest abilities.

In order to better balance the current metagame, we felt it was necessary to move one card to the restricted list. Will of the Electors (Core Set, 44) has been added to the list in response to the prevalence of Empire decks built around it and Judgement of Verena (Core Set, 49). Will of the Electors’ ability to move up to two developments for only one cost and one loyalty is too efficient for the current environment. While this restriction does not prevent players from playing both Will of the Electors and Judgement of Verena in the same deck, it means that players who do so will have to build up their economy without the aid of Warpstone Excavation (Core Set, 116), Innovation (Core Set, 119), or Derricksburg Forge (The Burning of Derricksburg, 5). This will help slow down these decks and give their opponents more time to prepare their defenses against the Judgement of Verena.

If you have questions regarding the latest rulings or other issues that were not addressed in this FAQ, please feel free to send us your inquiries using the “Rules Questions” link at the bottom of the page. We believe this FAQ update fosters a stronger and healthier competitive play environment, and we want to thank all you Warhammer: Invasion players for your continued support.
