Join Us for the Call of Cthulhu North American and World Championships! Then into that incredible city he walked; through a wall so thick that the gate was a tunnel, and thereafter amidst curved and undulant ways winding deep and narrow between the heavenward towers. Lights shone through grated and balconied windows, and the sound of lutes and pipes stole from inner courts where marble fountains bubbled. The Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game Regional Championship tournament season has nearly arrived at its final struggles. Frothing, raving, awe-struck investigators have returned forever changed from journeys that defy comprehension. Cultists have slipped back into the shadows at the edges of society, where they can better advance their insidious plots. Terrible and unfathomable elder gods stir in their distant realms. While the Regional Championships have brought terrifying light to many of the game’s greatest powers, there are still questions left unanswered: Who will emerge victorious from the insanity and investigations of Call of Cthulhu at the North American Championship tournament? How will the tournament season end at the FFG World Championship Weekend, with the bang of an agent’s shotgun or devoured by Ancient Ones? North American Championships The next step after the Regional Championships, our North American Championship tournament is a highly competitive, top-level event that draws participants from locations far and wide. The North American Championship features unique prize support and provides players their final chance to win first-round byes and free entry to our FFG World Championship Weekend in November. This year, Gen Con Indy will play host to the Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game North American Championships on Saturday, August 18th. Registration begins at 10 am at our table in the Event Hall, and the preliminary rounds run from 11 am to 2 pm. The top eight players from the North American Championship tournament win first-round byes and free entry at our FFG World Championship Weekend. Additionally, the North American Championship tournament winner can claim the most imaginative prize in gaming – the chance to work with our developers to design a card! Feel squeamish in the presence of gibbous, many-tentacled creatures from other dimensions? Fantasy Flight Games is also hosting a Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game warmup tournament at Gen Con. Registration for this casual event begins Thursday the 16th at 3 pm, with tournament play to follow at 4 pm. This is a great opportunity to ply your skill and test your luck in early investigations, and it’s a great pre-cursor to the madness of the North American Championships. Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game World Championship Ever dreamed of joining an elite cabal of world conquerers? The Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game World Championship tournament is your chance to earn your way to the inner circle.
Players who attend the Call of Cthulhu World Championship will enjoy tremendous support for the game they love. We can direct more time, more staff, and more energy to this event, and we expect it to be an exciting, positive, and memorable experience. Of course, there are prizes, too. Among those prizes the Call of Cthulhu World Champion will claim is the chance to convince others of the powers residing just beyond the perception of the masses. In the world of H.P. Lovecraft, psychics and lunatics are often sensitive to realities others can’t appreciate, and the World Champion wins the right to work with the game’s developers to design a card destined to add to the insanity! New Conspiracies Afoot After a Regional Championship season rich with stories, it’s time for players to dream up all new ways to decide the fate of the world. Over the next few weeks, keep an eye to our website for an updated tournament rules document that will make new Asylum Packs available for future events. Then, come join Fantasy Flight Games for the North American Championship tournament at Gen Con Indy, and make your plans to test your sanity at the Call of Cthulhu World Championships in November! ...Source: Darker Secrets and Deeper Mysteries (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=3380) |
