Title: "guess the drunken song rendition"
Post by: Dandith on 18 June 2009, 17:19:22
Unchain the colours before my eyes,
Yesterday's sorrows, tomorrow's white lies.
Scan the horizon, the clouds take me higher,
I shall return from out of fire.

Tears for remembrance, and tears for joy,
Tears for somebody and this lonely boy.
Out in the madness, the all seeing eye,
Flickers above us, to light up the sky.

I'll be happy to be the voice of reason and harmony, And fill the pages with battle hymn's and Glory.

Hail, Hail, Hail, And as I stood and looked on I heard the armies of the world hail them without and their voices of victory carried long and far throught out the land.

And Not a drop to drink.  :o

And thinking of the desert, I give you:-

I've come across the desert
To greet you with a smile
My camel looks so tired
It's hardly worth my while
To tell you of my travels
Across the golden East
I see your preparations
Invite me first to feast
Take me I'm yours
Because dreams are made of this
Forever there'll be
A heaven in your kiss

Amusing belly dancers
Distract me from my wine
Across Tibetan mountains
Are memories of mine
I've stood some ghostly moments
With natives in the hills
Recorded here on paper
My chills and thrills and spills It's really been some welcome
You never seem to change
A grape to tempt your leisure
Romantic gestures strange
My eagle flies tomorrow
It's a game I treasure dear
To seek the helpless future
My love at last I'm here

Paul Di'anno era Iron Maiden and then Squeeze, two of my favourite bands and both a good proposition live.

How about:

He is the king of all the land
In the kingdom of the sands
In a time, tomorrow.

Sorry for butting in.  :-X

It's a maiden song, and without looking.... I can tell you it's the last song on the piece of mind album. Not sure the Title off the top of my head.

Right and right. My first Maiden album [sniff].

As a clue they had to change the title from Dune when Frank Herbert said no. They could however use all sorts of other words that Frank Herbert actually made up apparently. Odd.

"To Tame the Land" is the name. Long Live Steve and Bruce.

Full moon light is calling me
My kigndom lies within
The mystic soul and lions heart
Brought by the talisman
The ecstasy of battle takes me
Where the falcons fly
Immortal youth was granted me
I will never die

I am an outcast on the path of no return
Punisher and swordsman
I was born to burn
Black wind always follows
Where my black horse rides
Fires in my soul
Steel is on my side

Nothing is easy, nothing good is free

Take a look inside your heart

I can only think of Rush.

Ok  some old school Scorpions "Loving You Sunday Morning", I wanted to love "drew" on Sunday morning. Wink Wink

And while I have never felt more at home more at home with my Brit comrades. I could Quote maiden all night long.

It about time for some PNW influence.

  There's a certain feeling

Known to all who hear the sound

The call of morning rising

You're in a mystic space

Can't you feel the force embrace, the chill of the wind

As it names you

Oh, can't you see the lies in front of you

Your journey ends so far, and still the distance

Spins round and round you

Now you cry - give me sanctuary

You scream but no one listens

Again you cry - give me sanctuary

Until the end I'll fight and die, to be free

Oh! No sanctuary

You're walking halfway in

But crawling halfway out

There's a void in your mind that you cling to

You feel lost in time, you've got no words to rhyme

No more charms, no more spells to protect you

I'll do anything for love, but I won't do that,

A Nod Is as Good as a Wink... to a Blind Horse

We march from the hills
Down to London Town.-
Join Raise you hand-or hide
When we ride for the crown.

Signs of the hammer and
The black winds blow through
The night.Long was out wait
Our meetings with Fate is tonight.

Sweet some British Rock, let me repay you with something from here

What do you mean, "I don't believe in God"?
I talk to him every day.
What do you mean, "I don't support your system"?
I go to court when I have to.
What do you mean, "I can't get to work on time"?
I got nothing better to do
And, what do you mean, "I don't pay my bills"?
Why do you think I'm broke? Huh?

And one from the old country, particularly dear to my heart, referencing in the first construction site I worked on where there was the original Games Workshop at the end of the road.

I liked to walk in the summer breeze
Down Dalling Road by the dead old trees
And drink with my friends
In the Hammersmith Broadway
Dear dirty old drunken
Delightful old days

This was written the same year as I was working on the site, I was about 16 then.

Inspired by this thread I made Peace Sells... my soundtrack to my morning commute. Is it just me or is the last chorus in Devil's Island actually "Neville's Island"? Who is Neville and why does he deserve his own island?

Nyargh - you have not heard of the composer/singer/cabaret act/movie extra that sung number 2 lyrics, oh man we are going to have add some musical background to our next gaming session and get all edukashunal.  I feel the Black Rider album moving into the playlist - theres some dark tracks on there.

I was also racking my brains the other day to the song with "Spokane" in the lyric, it would have been a 70's/80's rock song as thats what my car radio plays (KJR-FM 95.7).  Of course I could be mistaken like Nevilles Island a la Carldjcross.

Like a flash of light in an endless night
Life is trapped between two black entities
'Cause when you trust someone, illusion has begun
No way to prepare, impending despair

Did one say so cruel: "Tis better to love than lose"
Ignorance is bliss - wish not knew your kiss
So many times been burned, this lesson goes unlearned
Remember desire only fuels the fire - liar

Betwixed birth and death, every breath regret
I pity the living, envy for the dead
Emotionally stunned, in defense, I'm numb
I'd rather not care than to be aware - be scared

I don't need love

Are a thousand tears worth a single smile?
When you give an inch, will they take a mile?
Longing for the past but dreading the future
If not being used, well then you're a user and a loser

World renowned failure at both death and life
Given nothingness, purgatory blight
To run and hide, a cowardly procedure
Options exhausted, except for anesthesia - anesthesia

And the bastard checks in with:

now you look amazed.
I'm sitting in a daze, in a purple haze.
You better check my pulse, 'cause nothin' seems
to faze.

All day long whilest I was mowing the lawn, Bi-yatch!  I made sure there were some ICE CUBEs in my tea, 'cause it was a hot'um.

Cap'n Bastard out, yo!

Burning higher

Ya got me there.  I looked it up and still have no clue.

Going back to one of my earlier threads, the lyric with Seattle in is by Tom Waits (a big big fan).

Heres another WA namecheck.

Hey, in Walla
I'll see you in Walla Walla
Slap on the wrist? Well, not this time
