Creation and Control Is Now Available for Android: Netrunner Who will write the future? Creation and Control, the first deluxe expansion for Android: Netrunner The Card Game, is now available at local retailers! As the eccentric, genius runners known as Shapers begin a new series of assaults on corporate servers, the AI experts at Haas-Bioroid seek to secure their data files with a new wave of bioroids that are stronger, smarter, and more adaptable than ever before. With its 165 new cards (three copies each of fifty-five individual cards), Creation and Control introduces dramatic new developments in the high-stakes struggles between these two factions that are certain to spill outward across all the game’s factions and into the whole of the Android: Netrunner universe! Many New Programs Each faction in Android: Netrunner has its particular strengths, and the greatest strengths of the Shapers undoubtedly reside in the myriad of programs they design. These brilliant and creative runners are generally committed to the idea that the best answer to just about any problem lies in determining the best application of software. Creation and Control introduces a wealth of nine different Shaper programs that offer new efficiencies and new ways of exploring the game’s challenges. These new programs can break ice, pay to trash corporate cards, search for other programs, pay to install those programs, slow the Corp’s advancement of its agendas, and more. In fact, the Shapers have so many creative new programs in the works that you’re going to want more MUs to host them all. Fortunately, Creation and Control also introduces a number of new pieces of hardware, including the utilitarian Omni-drive (Creation and Control, 39) and the massive Monolith (Creation and Control, 36), a console that may cost your life savings to install into your rig, but offers the potential to save your life as soon as it’s installed. Many New Bioroids While the game’s Shapers have been developing new programs, the engineers at Haas-Bioroid have been perfecting their brain taping techniques and moving to launch a new generation of bioroids that are smarter, stronger, and more adaptable than ever. Creation and Control greatly promotes the core of Haas-Bioroid’s strength with multiple new bioroid ice and a wealth of upgrades, operations, and agendas that promote valuable synergies with its bioroids in order to maximize key corporate efficiencies. It’s a corporate vision statement that finds concrete realization in such combinations as Heimdall 2.0 (Creation and Control, 15) and Bioroid Efficiency Research (Creation and Control, 13). Meanwhile, as Creation and Control promotes Haas-Bioroid’s core principles, it recognizes that corporations like Haas-Bioroid don’t rise to global dominance without establishing broad foundations that touch upon every aspect of their fields. Accordingly, players will find three new identity cards that illustrate how Haas-Bioroid benefits from the diverse expertise of its different divisions: Cerebral Imaging (Creation and Control, 1), Custom Biotics (Creation and Control, 2), and NEXT Design (Creation and Control, 3). Many New Riches for Everyone Though the majority of the new cards in Creation and Control bolster the Haas-Bioroid and Shaper factions, the expansion also includes twenty-seven neutral cards (three copies each of nine different cards) that can enrich decks for any faction. In fact, many of these can quite literally enrich a Corp or Runner as they provide new options to drive your deck’s economy. Any Corp can benefit from the agenda, Gila Hands Arcology (Creation and Control, 23), or the new asset, Server Diagnostics (Creation and Control, 25), In addition to the expansion’s neutral cards, Creation and Control introduces a host of low-influence cards. As guest writer El-ad David Amir noted in his preview of the expansion, players may find significant benefit from “splashing” these cards into decks for different factions. Write Your Own Future Who will write the future? We may not yet know the answer, but we now have a better understanding of the challenges that lie ahead.
