Hannibal: Rome vs Carthage
Direct link   :   http://www.spiritgames.co.uk/single.php?menu=2&sub=n&game=3627

The second Punic (or Hannibalic) War (218-201) was the inevitable return match between Rome and Carthage (the former colony of Phoenician Tyre) for control of the western Mediterranean.

The completion of the conquest of Italy south of the Po valley had brought the Roman Republic face to face with Carthaginian power in Sicily, and security concerns almost immediately led to war over the island. Although possessing no navy and taking on the premier naval power in the Mediterranean, the Romans neverthless managed to defeat Carthage in the First Punic War (264-241) and take possession of Sicily, their first extra-Italian acquisition. Carthage remained, however a major power, controlling western North Africa, the coast of Spain and the remaining islands in the west.
In late summer 281, Hannibal Barca crossed the Pyrenees with some 50,000 foot, 9000 horse and perhaps 37 elephants. Despite help from his Gallic allies, battles and the rigors of the march itself left him with some 20,000 foot, 6000 horse and possibly a few elephants by the time he descended into the Po valley near the end of 218. There, however, he was immediately joined by tens of thousands of Gauls who had settled in the region two centuries earlier. This Gallic sword-fodder allowed Hannibal to preserve his precious and better-trained Iberians and Africans for the battles to follow.
Hannibal, one of the greatest military commanders and tacticians in history descends on the Roman Empire once again. Do you face him as Rome and try to ward the invasion that comes from the North, or do you climb atop your war elephant and show Rome you will take that which they hold most dear: their territory.
This is a reprint of a very popular Avalon Hill version from 1996 using the popular card driven system to recount the Second Punic War from 218 to 201 BC. Players use strategic level cards for multiple purposes: moving generals, levying new troops, reinforcing existing armies, gaining political control of the provinces involved in the war, and generating historical events. When two armies meet on the battlefield, a second set of cards, called Battle Cards, are used to determine the victor. This is not a wargame, but a game about political control of the Western Mediterranean where the winner will be the player who best uses their resources to control the political map at game end.

Le Havre
Direct link   :   http://www.spiritgames.co.uk/single.php?menu=2&sub=n&game=4094

Le Havre is a game about managing a Harbour, building ships and constructing buildings.

On each turn, players must decide whether to take goods of one type or to carry out a building action.
The number of goods on offer varies from turn to turn. New goods of each kind are added regularly, building up until a player takes them. Wood clay and iron are building resources. Fish, grain and cattle are used to feed your dock workers. Actions in buildings allow goods to be upgraded - just turn the tokens over to show the reverse side.
Wood, for example, can be upgraded to charcoal in the Kiln. Where once it could have been used as a building resource, not it supplies more energy. Energy is required, for example to upgrade clay to brick in the Brickworks. And the Kiln and Brickworks are just two of the 33 buildings found in Le Havre. An additional 36 Special buildings, of which only a very few are used in each game, make each game new and different.
Players need to build Wooden, Iron and Steel ships at a Wharf in time to meet their food needs, which increase from round to round. With the exception of Luxury liners, ships provide food in every round. Players with ships can also use the Shipping Line to sell goods.
Players can also use their currency (Francs) to buy ships and buildings. These can either be built with raw resources or be bought with cash. Any player may enter any building. Many buildings require an entry fee to be paid, usually with food.
At the end of the game, the player with the largest fortune is the winner. This is the total of the player's cash and the value of his or her ships and buildings. Le Havre can be played by 1-5 players, either in a shortened version or as a full game (duration 100-200 minutes, less in the shortened version), ensuring that it provides the right level of challenge for any game table.

Hold the Line: Frederick's War
Direct link   :   http://www.spiritgames.co.uk/single.php?menu=2&sub=n&game=7738

Hold the Line comes to the wars of Europe in the Age of Reason with Frederick's War. When Frederick II led his army into Silesia a long duel began between a still fragile Prussia and the first class power that was Austria. Featured here are eight battles from the fearsome contest: Mollwitz, Choutusitz, Hohenfriedburg, Kesselsdorf, Kolin, Leuthen, Hockkirk, and Liegnitz. The game closely aligns with the Hold the Line system, but includes more advanced command rules, more detailed cavalry rules, optional rules for each warring nation's units, and much more.

The Prussian army is well drilled and led by a bevy of talented generals, including Schwerin, Zieten, Leopold von Dessau, and of course Frederick the Great. The Austrian army is slightly weaker, but is aided by fearsome light infantry units and in later scenarios are led by such capable commanders a Daun and Loudon.

As Prussia can you humble the Austrians and make your kingdom a first-class power? As Austria can you weather the Prussian storm and halt the first steps towards decline? The enemy approaches, the sound of cannon deafens, men shout commands, smoke fills the air. You must HOLD THE LINE!

Game Includes:

Hard Mounted Gameboard
1 Counter Sheet
1 Hex Tile Sheet
Dice
Rule Book with Scenarios

Hold the Line: Highland Charge
Direct link   :   http://www.spiritgames.co.uk/single.php?menu=2&sub=n&game=7739

Hold the Line now looks at one of the most fabled conflicts in history, the Jacobite rebellions, in Highland Charge. These uprisings were, as of 2013, the last battles fought on British soil. Featured here are five battles from the fearsome contest: Sheriffmuir, Prestonpans, Falkirk, Glen Shiel and Culloden. The game closely aligns with the Hold the Line system, but includes rules for Highland charges, Scottish militia, and of course the feared Highland clan units. Players must own Hold the Line: Frederick's War to use this game set.

James II lost his throne in 1689, but he and his supporters did not give up the fight to reclaim his rights and titles. From 1689 to 1745 no less than four major Jacobite Rebellions broke out in the Scottish highlands, often with limited aid from France and Spain. The battles were the last hurrah for a dying way of war. The Highlanders relied on assault tactics, in particular the feared Highland charge. The Loyalists, made up of British regulars and Scottish militia, used the linear tactics of the day, including volley fire, artillery barrages, and bayonets. For a time the Highlanders seemed to be tactically superior until the shattering defeat at Culloden, a battle that proved the ultimate superiority of musket and artillery fire over the claymore.

As the Jacobites can you reclaim the throne for the Stuart dynasty? As the Loyalists can you protect the Hanoverian succession and deal a final death blow to absolutism in Britain? Across the way the bagpipes can be heard. The clans have mustered, the sound of cannon deafens, men shout commands, smoke fills the air. You must HOLD THE LINE!

Stonewall Jackson's Way II: Battles of Bull Run
Direct link   :   http://www.spiritgames.co.uk/single.php?menu=2&sub=n&game=7740

Stonewall Jackson's Way II: Battles of Bull Run is the 9th game in the award-winning Great Campaigns of the American Civil War (GCACW) series. This game is actually two complete modules in one: it includes a complete revision and augmentation of Stonewall Jackson's Way (SJW), the first game in the series, and an entire new module covering the First Bull Run Campaign, called All Green Alike (AGA).

All Green Alike simulates the clash between the confederate and Union troops near Manassas and in the Shenandoah Valley in the summer of 1861. General Irvin McDowell led the largest army seen to date on the American continent against two Confederate forces under the leadership of Generals Pierre GT Beauregard, and Joseph E Johnston. The result was a disheartening repulse of McDowell's forces that served to foreshadow the long conflict to come.

Stonewall Jackson's Way simulates the Civil War campaign in central Virginia during August 1862 between the Confederacy's Army of Northern Virginia and the Union's Army of Virginia and Army of the Potomac. In large measure, this campaign forged the lofty reputations of southern leaders such as Stonewall Jackson, James Longstreet, and Robert E Lee. Indeed, for the remainder of the war, Confederate fortunes were never higher than they were following the Southern triumph at the Battle of Second Manassas.

The maps include new historical and terrain details (to bring them up to the standards of the latest games in the GCACW series). The counters have also been updated to the new look established for our latest title Battle Above the Clouds. The two modules hare a common rules set so player will be able to move quickly from one campaign to the other. Stonewall Jackson's Way II: Battles of Bull Run is sure to appeal to any gamer with an interest in recreating two of the most famous campaigns of the American Civil War.

Components:

Two Rules Booklets
Two 22" by 32" Map-sheets
Three 280-piece Counter-Sheets

The Mystery of the Templars
Direct link   :   http://www.spiritgames.co.uk/single.php?menu=2&sub=n&game=7741

But when our sword becomes bright in our hands, the Word will be as thunder! Then we will attack once, and be not silent until the enemy's surrender is heard!

In The Mystery of the Templars, you will explore the history of the Pauperes commilitones Christi templique Salamonis (the "poor comrades-in-arms of Christ and the temple of Solomon"), and confront the events of two centuries, from 1119 to 1312 AD, in an exciting strategy game.

Each player will be the leader of a faction of the Order, who must administer the Order's monies and trade goods coming from the Holy Lands, recruit new knights, and manage Templar commanderies all over Europe.

Your adventure will start far away in the Holy Land, escorting pilgrims along the dangerous routes in Palestine and excavating in the night for ancient and precious Christian relics among the ancient ruins of King Solomon's Temple.

Can you recover these artifacts and keep them safe until the persecution ordered by the King of the French begins on that fateful day of Friday the 13th, 1307? Can you then hide them forever from the craving of Philippe the Fair?

The Mystery of the Templars is more than a board game: it is the result of fascinating historical research, digging deeply into the legends that continue to feed the curiosity of every generation.

The Mystery of the Templars includes a 24-page historical booklet on the History of the Templar Order that is not just a guide to the game and its contents, but also a detailed overview of this incredible brotherhood of warrior-priests that in a very short time would gain respect among all the European courts, and become the most powerful political and economic power for over two hundred years.
