An Event Report from the Plugged-in Tour for Android: Netrunner We’re now just more than a third of the way into the Plugged-in Tour for Android: Netrunner, and the response has been fantastic! Hundreds of players have turned out for our first tour stops, competed in the Plugged-in Tour tournaments, challenged our staff in gunslinging matches, and cast their votes for their favorite of the two potential Runner IDs: Laramy Fisk and The Collective. Over the last few days, we’ve recapped last weekend’s action, and today we finish our summary of last weekend’s tour stops with a look at the competition between those players who plugged-in to Hairy Tarantula North in Toronto, ON. Hairy Tarantula (North) – Toronto, ON Our second and final stop in Toronto was at Hairy Tarantula North. We saw several familiar faces from Snakes & Lattes returning to take another shot at victory, as well as a number of people who were coming out for their first Android: Netrunner tournament ever! The tournament was well attended, and the competition was vigorous. Criminals dominated the Runner field, and Andromeda decks dominated the Top 8. Still, none of them were able to pull the ultimate heist. On the Corp side, the overall field was dominated by NBN decks, but the Top 8 was split nearly evenly between HB, Weyland Consortium, and NBN. There was little Jinteki presence at this tournament, but players were truly excited by some of the cards spoiled during challenge matches. People were particularly excited for the release of Shock! (True Colors, 73) and Tsurugi (True Colors, 74). Champion Mikhail Honoridez found his way to victory with his Shaper and Weyland Consortium decks. It was the first victory for Rielle “Kit” Peddler along the Plugged-in Tour, but Mikhail also took third place at Snakes & Lattes. Together, his two Top 4 performances were testament to the fact that Kit can run with the best of them.
Meanwhile, we were able to demo the game to several interested players and may have created a few new Android: Netrunner fans! Our thanks to Kelly and the rest of the Hairy Tarantula staff for having us. We had a blast! The Weekend Ahead We’re not finished yet! The action of the Plugged-in Tour resumes tomorrow as our staff head to I’m Board! Games & Family Fun in Middleton, WI. Then, we have a full weekend of events to follow with stops in Colorado, New York, and Wisconsin. We’ll recap the action with more event reports next week, and we’ll post an update on the ongoing race between the two potential Runner IDs, Laramy Fisk and The Collective. In the meantime, you can keep up with all the action by following the live conversations on Twitter (#pluggedintour). Do you want to join us on the tour? It’s not too late to plug-in. Review our scheduled tour stops, and let us know you’re planning to attend. We’ll see you on the tour! ...Source: The Run on Hairy Tarantula (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=4428) |
