This Print on Demand Scenario Is Now Available for The Lord of the Rings “Long had the terror of the Dead lain upon that hill and upon the empty fields about it.” Night is gathering, and the desperate search for Derufin has begun. The Stone of Erech, a standalone scenario for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is now available! Originally released as part of a special event at Gen Con Indy 2013, The Stone of Erech is now available to everyone via Print on Demand. This challenging and deeply thematic standalone scenario opens as several of Middle-earth’s greatest heroes rally to aid the Lord of Lamedon, whose son, Derufin, has been missing for several days. As the evening grows long, their search leads them to the Blackroot Vale, where the people live in dread of the Dead Men of Dunharrow. Night Comes Swiftly Throughout the scenario’s three-part quest, the heroes find themselves racing against time. While your search begins casually enough, it becomes increasingly deadly as the night grows darker. Three objective cards track the progression from Eventide (The Stone of Erech, 8) to Midnight (The Stone of Erech, 10), and the passage of time greatly impacts the threats you face and the strength of the enemies you encounter. Developer Matt Newman addresses the pressures of time you’ll face in The Stone of Erech in a Second Breakfast article. In that article, he also addresses how the scenario’s progression of time often caught players by surprise. Tables at the Gen Con Fellowship event often didn’t realize the dangers they faced until the clock struck midnight. Confronting the Dead The spectral Undead in The Stone of Erech function differently than standard enemies. Each of them bears the “Spectral” keyword, which means that before you can attack them, your characters must first summon the courage and force of will to withstand their horrifying presence. When characters attack an enemy with the spectral keyword, they must use their Willpower instead of their Attack Strength. Each enemy’s Defense Strength still functions normally against these attacks. The Undead Host Has Gathered Can your heroes summon the courage they need to fight off their foes even as they try to press further along their quest? Can they find Derufin and return him safely to Lamedon? Pick up your copy of The Stone of Erech today to undertake a quest truly worthy of Middle-earth’s greatest heroes! ...Source: The Stone of Erech (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=4458) |
