One Throne. Many Roads.

A Hidden Agenda Is Now Available for A Game of Thrones: The Card Game

“I shall make the dragon queen mine own. She will share my bed and bear me many mighty sons.”

–George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons

A Hidden Agenda is now available at your local retailer and online through our webstore.

A Hidden Agenda is the sixth and final Chapter Pack in the Kingsroad cycle for A Game of Thrones: The Card Game, bringing the cycle to its dramatic conclusion. As the Great Houses of Westeros vie for the Iron Throne, their schemes and battles claim casualties beyond number. Knights and soldiers die on the field of battle, and common folk are left destitute in the wake of their wars. Even the lords and ladies of the Great Houses may find themselves vulnerable to scandal or assassination. It’s enough to cause a person to wonder, “Who is truly pulling the strings?”

For five Chapter Packs, the Kingsroad cycle has revisited the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, as well as many of the themes and mechanics previously established within A Game of Thrones: The Card Game. Now, at the conclusion of the cycle, A Hidden Agenda offers a wide sampling of those themes and mechanics, even as it provides a boost to Maesters, the other members of the Citadel, Dragons, and decks that start without agendas… Some of those decks may truly have no agenda; some may run one of the game’s character agendas, hidden among their other cards.

The Rebirth of Dragons

In George R.R. Martin’s fantasy epic, A Song of Ice and Fire, few events have shared such heavy, far-reaching impact as the rebirth of dragons. After all, dragons once helped shape the Seven Kingdoms.

While these dragons are certainly no plotters or schemers, they exist, nonetheless, at the heart of a wide range of plots, schemes, and ambitions. Among these are the ambitions of Daenerys Targaryen, who hopes to someday ride her dragons to Westeros and the throne she believes to be her birthright.

Dragon decks have long been a staple of A Game of Thrones: The Card Game, especially in the melee format where Daenerys Targaryen (Queen of Dragons, 22) might appear a lesser threat than other lords and ladies until her Dragons are ready to consume the world in fire… And by then, it’s often too late for her opponents to stop her.

In the one-versus-one joust format, though, it’s harder to veil the threat you pose your opponent, and Dragon decks have historically had less success. The most powerful versions of Daenerys’s dragons all cost four gold, they’re obvious targets, and there’s nowhere for them to hide.

In A Hidden Agenda, you’ll find three new versions of Daenerys’s Dragons: Viserion (A Hidden Agenda, 116), Drogon (A Hidden Agenda, 117), and Rhaegal (A Hidden Agenda, 118).

With these new versions of Viserion, Drogon, and Rhaegal, Dragon decks will have more options than ever in the game’s melee format, and we may also see Dragon decks find new life in the joust format. They’re cheaper, they add more icon versatility, and they come with built-in protection. If you can get all three into play at the same time, each of them gains “cannot be killed.” Then, in order to get the most out of them, you just need Daenerys, who can, in turn, benefit from the protection offered by The Power of Blood (Core Set, 194). Thus, even though the Dragon deck type may be just as obvious as it was before, it may pull together just one heartbeat earlier and survive one or two plots longer, and that may be all the time that Daenerys needs to claim her throne.

To Hide Your Agenda or Proclaim It?

Will you, like Daenerys, boldly proclaim your intentions for all to hear? Or will you keep your secrets as guarded as a maester of the Citadel? There’s new paths to power for everyone in A Hidden Agenda, now available at your local retailer and online via our webstore!
