Title: DND 4th Ed - Monster Manual 2 Release & Game Day
Post by: CrazyFrog on 15 April 2009, 15:42:14
Hi

I thought it was a good idea to start a new thread and calendar entry for this topic.

New from the DND email newletter reads:

Quote
Mark your calendar: Worldwide D&D Game Day is coming!

In 2009, Worldwide D&D Game Day is being celebrated on three dates, corresponding to the release of the three “2s”—Player’s Handbook 2; Monster Manual 2; and Dungeon Master’s Guide 2. Each time, we’re working with your local game shop to celebrate the world’s best-loved RPG. The first WWDDGD of 2009 was held in March—the second one is coming up on 23 May!

The May event celebrates the release of the Monster Manual 2, packed with classic and new monsters to challenge your party. Join us for WWDDGD for a chance to put some of these new creatures through their paces!

The WWDDGE adventure previews new monsters while pitting players against wicked fiends and dark plots. For players new to the game as well as 4th Edition veterans, this event has everything needed to embark on an all-new adventure: Journey Through the Silver Caves. An ancient book of prophecy has been stolen, and the thief has dark plans. This adventure is for 5 pregenerated 5th-level characters, which are provided along with all the character and monster minis as well as custom battlemats.

But that’s not all. Your shop might also host a delve, additional adventures, trivia contests or other games, tables of Three-Dragon Ante and Inn-Fighting, and other D&D activities.

We’ll announce a list of participating sites in early May. In the meantime, save the date and talk to your local shop about their plans. And don’t forget to mention the event to your gaming buddies and friends. The more the merrier!

Oh, and one more thing: Your shop could probably use a hand with the event. Maybe you’d like to DM a session, or help out with the delve? Ask your shop how you can help to make this WWDDGD the best yet!

So theres another DND game day in May for the monster manual  and  another one planned for the DM's guide later in year  +:beer=+::beer:

can confirm Phil has registered with the Wizards site but cant confirm just how many adventure packs he will be getting. This is despite standing over Phil trying to translate site from UberGeek into something Phil could follow but I think at least one.

I hope that helps

Tanks for the update. As long as one pack gets to Spirit at least some of us get to game. I'll see if there's one available for DMing with whenever our intrepid team of gamers gets the info on the packages' arrival.

Had a chat with Phil today - he has had 3 kits in today, and is expecting 3 more tomorrow.

I think the volunteer DM's for satturday so far are Chris (Dat) and Ashley Simpson. If necessary I will also DM - there may be others. I will get a kit for Ashley tonight and drop it off for her and I expect you can fetch your own Chris?

three games run by meet up Ashley & by Whitefire of this parish seemed to run fine but where largely over by the time I escaped from the telephonic clutches of Miss EvilGinger (who says HI btw) The last run by my darling DAT started late and ran on till after seven and nearly resulted in a DM murder by Steve who wanted to go home and watch Primeval. This one I was most of and the party seemed to have a hard time of it and get really close to all dying but make it in the end. It looked good fun and apart from being a bit combat heavy seemed to run well.

I leave those who played for a more detailed review.

Yes, the adventure was combat heavy, mostly because i didn't have time for the players to roleplay the bits inbetween as we started 2 hours late. It would have been nice for some banter between encounters, some RPing at the start of the adventure and the end and the skill challenge in the middle, the opportunities were there, the time wasn't.

As far as how it went, EvilGinger was pretty much on the money. A goliath picked up and threw a hardened mushroom at an Arbalester for 4 damage and other humourous things happened along the way.

Stacey can post about it too if she feels like it. Anyhoo, i feel like i'm becoming a specialist speed-DM.
