Plague

We have a number of missions and assignments weighing on our group.
We are on a search for the Shard of the Sun, to deal with a troublesome Lich back in Ilorin, who may have gotten some of its powers due to our own actions. This is the reason we are ransacking tombs in the Valley of the Kings.
Next we had to barter with a Demon, never a good thing this chronicler thinks. Short story is we have to kill a governor in a part of the Caerlish Empire within two years in order for us to not lose our souls.
Lastly, we had entered into an agreement with the leader of some local assassins guild we had pissed off to find a cure for a plague that’s is ravaging their lands.
We set some sages to work with getting intel on the Governor and those lands and troop off to see priests at the Church of Mishikal. A healing deity, whose spring we need to tap in order to cure the plague.  We hand over a sizeable donation which will allow us to gather some of the water in a sacred vessel which the church will supply us. We also get a priest from the church to accompany us, one Brother Francis who is skilled at Healing but not at the Art of Warfare.
We find out through Galvish contacts at the Thieves Guild that hard liquor is banned in the area we are going to, so race around and get seven pony kegs of rye whisky to take with us to use as barter.
We delay no further and fold to just outside of a small town where we will get some paperwork which will allow us to journey into the mountains to finds the sacred spring.
Galvish and Carinne enter the town as they are the only ones who speak the language in this region.
They spend a night there and make contact with the representative the next morning.  It will take several days to get the necessary orders and we make a deal with the moonshine to get some pack horses and mining equipment to make us look more like prospectors and less like insurgents this close to the border of the Caerlish Empire.
We finally set out and bestow as many protective spells on Brother Francis as we can muster, as he seems like a pale and wan healer rather than a robust smiter of evil type priest we are more used to.
Several days into the journey we are ambushed by ogres, who quickly discover we are a heavily armed, expert archer type of prospector they have likely never encountered before. Apart from some lightning slightly singeing our erstwhile Gnome scout we emerge unscathed.
Later that same day we are in for more of a shock as we are hit from behind by an almighty fiery inferno, which instantly chargrills the pack horses and the unfortunate Brother Francis.  Having felt the lick of a dragon’s breath before know this to be a mighty foe, who flies over us invisibly.
The party quickly gains some separation from each other so we are not all caught in the next blast and start casting spells to determine where the invisible foe is. Moments later Saeryn and Taran quickly discover its location as they are engulfed in another fiery blast. Saeryn swings her red dragon slaying sword which clanks off the magically protected body of the dragon. Carinne has more luck with a burst of magic missiles which manage to sneak through the dragons protection.
Many arrows are fired and more spells cast before the dragon succumbs to our combined firepower.
Our prospector disguise is naught but ashes now.
