Accelerate to Attack Speed

An update regarding the X-Wing Miniatures Game

"Proceed with the countdown. All groups assume attack coordinates.”
-Admiral Ackbar, Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi

Assemble your squadrons and prepare for battle in X-Wing Miniatures Game! Launch your rugged Rebel X-wings into desperate missions or take control of nimble TIE fighters and outnumber your enemy in this fast-paced game that puts you in control of your favorite ships from the Star Wars galaxy. X-Wing recreates the excitement of all your favorite Star Wars space battles and allows you to imagine your own. However you play, you’ll need all of your cunning and skill to claim victory.

Last summer, Fantasy Flight Games announced X-Wing, a fast-paced game of tactical space battles. We are now pleased to say that this highly anticipated game will be launching onto shelves in the summer of 2012.

Build your squadrons and prepare for battle

With accessible and dynamic rules, X-Wing is easy to learn and provides fast and furious strategic gameplay. Simply lock in your movement on the movement dial for each ship, and then maneuver your ships into battle. As the game develops, players must react to a quickly changing battlefield. Keep your wits, because you’ll need to outfox your opponents or risk winding up as space scrap.

With the X-Wing Miniatures Game, you can assume the role of many famous Star Wars characters. Take the role of the legendary Luke Skywalker, who has an uncanny ability to survive any engagement. You could also play as powerful villains like the Imperial pilot known as “Dark Curse,” a member of Black Squadron who is adept at dodging incoming attacks, or test your skills with less experienced pilots like Rebel Rookie Pilot or Imperial Academy Pilot. With thirteen pilots included in X-Wing, you have many options to choose from.

An expanding universe

Arriving at the same time as the X-Wing Miniatures Game Core Set, you can add even more starfighters to your games with the X-Wing expansion packs. Command entire squadrons of Rebel X-wings and Y-wings or throngs of Imperial TIE fighters and TIE Advanced fighters, and relive your favorite Star Wars space battles…or create your own. The possibilities are endless when you build your own collection of X-Wing ships. Read more about these thrilling expansion packs in Prepare to Launch the Starfighters.

All of the X-Wing miniatures have been recreated to scale with painstaking accuracy, and the results are stunning. Look for a future in-depth article that provides more detail on the process of making these masterfully detailed models.

With easy-to-learn rules that put you right in the middle of the action, while providing compelling strategic gameplay, X-Wing promises to be a thrilling experience for Star Wars fans and gamers across the galaxy!

Strap into your favorite Star Wars starfighter and prepare for the jump to hyperspace. Keep checking back for in-depth X-Wing previews, strategy articles, and battle reports, and look for more exciting X-Wing news in the future.

I'm just curious to see how far away this is from Wings of War Glory as originally it seemed to share the same rules. Something tells me they'll have altered it to avoid legal run-ins.
