Signum Mortis: Gangs of RomeNumbered Limited Edition
Direct link   :   http://www.spiritgames.co.uk/single.php?menu=2&sub=n&game=7599

Take on the Role of Masters of Roman Gangs from the Aventine Hill During Sulla's Reign of Terror and Proscription of 82BC

On one hand the players are building a reputation for their Gang competing for being the most daring in truly "headhunting" powerful men fallen into disgrace. Gangs capture - using brutal force or guile - outlawed (proscribed) but still highly influential Senators or other Nobles (whose heads will be displayed on the forum).

On the other hand, players also compete in their accumulation of wealth. They gain blood money for those captured while also plundering the homes of these unfortunates. The Gangs also raise money by extorting the grain merchants, gambling halls or brothels, while players might also prey on each other in an attempt to rob the other Gangs of their ill-gotten wealth either on the way home or by storming and plundering their lair.

Still there are many dangers. Sulla's veterans patrol the streets and in the Sullani, Sulla's freedmen players have competitors as headhunters. Chrysogonus, Sulla's man who leads this hunt wants his share of the booty, and the executioner will take the Master who lacked in generosity, while bribed Officials cause further trouble.

Players use their Chief and his three Lieutenants - all of them being specialists for different roles - and beef up their gangs by rogues lending numbers, muscles, speed or stealth. Players might also try bribing officials to influence the Civil War, steer the patrols or "ameliorate" their records with Chrysogonus while influencing the proscription lists. They use prophecies by the witch ("Stryga") to influence their superstitious opponents.

When finally the unpredictable civil war ends and peace comes to Rome, also the Master whose gang has killed the - suddenly - wrong people will face the executioner, leaving the best tactician to survive and win.

A basic and an advanced level of play are provided with the basic introductory game focusing mainly on the combat tand "headhunting" aspects while leaving out the politics and intrigue for now.

The Guns of Gettysburg: 150th Anniversary Edition
Direct link   :   http://www.spiritgames.co.uk/single.php?menu=2&sub=n&game=7600

Gettysburg was the battle that nobody wanted. It started when a Confederate division under Henry Heth advanced on the Pennsylvania town of Gettysburg and unexpectedly encountered a Union cavalry force under John Buford. Both sides called for reinforcements, and as more and more units from both armies arrived, the battle grew in intensity until it could no longer be stopped. The result was one of the most famous battles of history, an epic struggle that tested both armies to their limits, and which ended as a defeat for the Confederacy that could never be undone or reversed.

The Guns of Gettysburg recreates this historic battle. Like its acclaimed predecessors, Bonaparte at Marengo and Napoleon's Triumph, the game represents the opposing armies with wooden blocks to recreate the look of nineteenth-century battle maps. The Gettysburg rules, however, are entirely new, reflecting the differences between Napoleonic and Civil War warfare as well as the unique characteristics of the Battle of Gettysburg. The result is a fresh, exciting game that offers a unique gaming experience: no matter how many wargames you've played, you've never played one like this.

Game Contents:

22" x 34" game board
102 wooden blocks
2 sticker sheets
6 "objective" discs
2 wooden tile racks
2 rule booklets
146 cardboard tiles:
48 time tokens
16 reinforcements
80 battle tokens
2 turn markers

The Duke
Direct link   :   http://www.spiritgames.co.uk/single.php?menu=2&sub=n&game=7601

The politics of the high court are elegant, shadowy and subtle. Not so in the outlying duchies. Rival dukes contend for unclaimed lands far from the king's reach, and possession is the law in these lands. Use your forces to capture enemy troops before you lose the chance to claim the land for yourself.

In The Duke, players move their troop tiles around the board and flip them over after each move. Each tile's side shows a different movement pattern. If you end your movement in a square occupied by an opponent's tile, you capture it. Capture your opponent's Duke to win.

The Duke: Customization Expansion Pack

Customization Tiles allow players to create their own, unique tiles. Using the blank tiles and the sticker sheets, each player can design and field a tile of their very own.

As detailed on page 17 of the base game rulebook, there is no right or wrong way to design a tile, nor are there "rules." Players will quickly find, especially moving beyond the base game into the Expansion Packs, that there's a wide variety of designs covering all sorts of game play styles.

Steel Wolves Expansion: German Fleet Boats
Direct link   :   http://www.spiritgames.co.uk/single.php?menu=2&sub=n&game=7607

In 1939, Nazi Germany launched a war with a force of U-boats based on Admiral Karl Donitz's plan for a large fleet of small to medium sized submarines aimed at overcoming what he saw as the failure of World War I's submarine campaign. Admiral Eric Raeder and others saw it differently, preferring larger fleet boats capable of carrying the naval war far out into the Atlantic early. Donitz had his way and yet by 1943, the campaign was lost. Now you can experiment with Raeder's approach and see how German Fleet Boats might have changed the war.

1 countersheet: with 84 Submarines including Types, I, II, III, VII, VIII, XI & XII

Operation Skorpion: Rommel's First Strike
Direct link   :   http://www.spiritgames.co.uk/single.php?menu=2&sub=n&game=7608

Battleground, North Africa, 26 May, 1941
The recent Allied attack to relieve the Tobruk garrison, "Operation Brevity," had been largely a failure. However, it left them in possession of the strategically important Halfaya Pass, the gateway to Egypt. In addition, British forces were harassing the German defenders with mobile columns to the South. German General Rommel recognized the need to recapture this terrain in order to stabilize the front. Still fearing the British infantry tank, Matilda, an under gunned, ponderous, mobile fortification, Rommel launched three panzer battalions plus supporting units to sweep the British from the field. The offensive was code named, "Unternehmen Skorpion," ultimately known to the Allies as Operation Skorpion. The battle was brief and violent. Although there was a significant disparity in firepower, the Germans had a definite Achilles heel. Can the Germans accomplish their goals of capturing the Halfaya Pass and clearing its southern approaches before their supplies are exhausted, particularly the remainder of their fuel allotment?

Operation Skorpion is a relatively short, fast moving game that introduces a new fog of war game system. Opposing strength is unknown until units enter combat. Once revealed, those combat values can continue to fluctuate during the course of the game based on judicious use of mobile supply units, which can distribute and absorb Allocation Points. Although fighting a defensive battle, the British Player is not without counterattack capability. He will find his artillery arm, both direct and indirect fire, to be a potent force. Game rules such as: Combined Arms, HQ Coordinated Combat, Road Overrun, Engineers, and Reconnaissance Probe, all contribute to an appropriate sense of realism. Operation Skorpion provides exciting, tense, and balanced game play. Determining the ultimate winner often occurs on the last or next-to-the last game-turn. Turn back the clock to the heady days of Spring 1941 and command the Afrika Korps, or take on the British and ultimately break the sword of the Desert Fox, himself, in this battle game by Compass Games...
