So I have created a Facebook group because I am thinking of starting a Derby based board gaming group. I have no idea where this will be yet, how often or who is interested. I guess this is just to get an idea if it could work or not.

I would suggest initially once a month on a Sunday afternoon in a local pub who is willing to have us! I would only charge a small amount of $$$ to cover hire fees if applicable. May get lucky and get some free room hire.

So, if you are interested reply to to this thread or PM with facebook details and I will add you to the group.

Oh and whoever has the best name suggestion for the group gets to name it!

I'm a moderator on that Derby On Board Games group; it's only small and irregular (like a gnome with a peg-leg) right now, but there are plans! It's an all-inclusive group, but I've been wanting to do a 'games in a pub' thing in Derby as there are so many fine establishments. Maybe upstairs at the Brunswick?

Anyway, join the group and I'll hopefully see you at the next one on the 30th Smiley

The Brunswick is a fine Pub & now its recovered from being the place for the Old RPG meet up I sure it would love to play host.

Why not just use here, Zarni is very helpful in this regard you might get invasions form Burton if we knew about it this continual fragmentation is no help to any one to be honest.

I'm not sure that Roller Derby is the best name either tbh - for anyone who isn't aware roller derby is a sport (I used to play it!) and there is a roller derby league in Derby which could cause some confusion...

Did you come on Wednesday to the Derby group plasticfridge? Twas a fun evening and the cafe it is held at serves damn fine cake. Wink

D6 + Beer!

The 'Derby on Board Games' group is hosting a trial event on Wednesday the 13th of June at the Brunswick Inn near the train station in Derby. If all goes well we might try to make this a regular thing, though not necessarily on a Wednesday. Information can be found through the Facebook group below:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/344830812223887/

As this is a trial event it's just going to be a small affair (the Board Room at the Brunswick will support three large games or several smaller ones at a time) It's obviously going to clash with Spirit Games' gaming night this time, but hopefully we'll be able to pick another night if it becomes a regular fixture.

Feel free to post the details of the event here on the Calendar (all members can post events) you can create a linked post to the event as well, the best place is probably the General Events area.
If you need any help PM me.

Regularly but not on a wednesday would be very good as would posting the events on the calender here as we do need to consolidate the gaming community & half the problem is not knowing when stuff is on.....
