Salerno

Salerno, the first step in "Variable Combat" simulation!MMP is proud to announce the debut of its latest game system, the "Variable Combat Series (VSC)," that combines limited knowledge of enemy strength with a chit pull rating method that makes planning for combat an uncertain affair. The Series opener is VCS Salerno, a game that undertakes the difficult task of depicting the entire 1943 Allied invasion of Southern Italy on two convenient medium-sized mapsheets. The maps overlap and are divided into three sections. The main invasion on the west coast of Italy, Operation Avalanche, occurs on Map Section A, which is one-third of the map at a scale or 1 mile per hex. Map Section B, also at 1 mile per hex, is the east coast, containing the main Axis airbase of Foggia and strategic ports and highways. The last third, Map Section C, is drawn up at 3 miles per hex and is used for the other two main operations, Operation Slapstick - the capture of Taranto, and Operation Baytown - the methodical capture of the Calabrian peninsula (the toe of Italy). The map sections are linked by six "transit tracks" representing 20-40 miles of interior territory. Control of these tracks is crucial to maintaining the lines of supply that are vital for both German resistance and Allied progress.Allied sea power emerges as a key component of the campaign represented by more than just an abstract die roll. Ships are represented by individual counters that provide direct, ranged support. At the same time, German radio-controlled missiles pose a new threat to Allied ships - often with devastating effect. The historical campaign spans 18 game turns, with a separate 4-turn scenario featuring the invasion only. Three alternative-history scenarios are included, all fully possible in the time span of the battle. They include "Gavin's Gambit" - a planned 82nd Airborne drop behind Salerno to help drive north; "Long Shot for Barletta" - an airdrop by the 82nd on the east coast with a mechanized strike force landing in Taranto; and "Race for Cassino" - wherein Montgomery leads a British/Commonwealth invasion at Salerno and Patton leads a US invasion at Taranto (with the same armies they had in Sicily) - now on a race north to break the German Winter Line.VCS Salerno contains:Two mapsheetsTwo contersheetsThe VCS Standard and Salerno Exclusive rulebookOne Player Aid ChartTwo dice

Atlantic Wall: D-Day to Falaise

"Soldiers, Sailors ans Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force: You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven all these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hope and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely. But this is the year 1944! The tide has turned! The freemen of the world are marching  together to victory!"-General Dwight EisenhowerSupreme Allied Commander Allied Expeditionary Force, June 1944(Excerpts from SHAEF orders of the day June 6th 1944)ON 6 JUNE 1944 the greatest armada the world has ever seen approached northern France. That fleet consisted of more than 5,300 ships carrying over 300,000 men and 50,000 vehicles. Opposing them was Germany's veteran Wehrmacht.ATLANTIC WALL is a grand-tactical simulation of that campaign. The counters represent almost every formation that participated at the company and battalion level. Infantry, armour, anti-tank, reconnaissance, engineer, assault gun, howitzer, rocket, parachute, ranger, commando, glider and headquarter units are fully represented. Features include Widerstandnesten (resistance nests), Cherbourg's fortifications and the all-important Bocage. The map portrays all primary and secondary roads, trails and other types of terrain, along with the villages, towns and cities that formed the bastions of German defence. As always with this series, the orders of battle have been extensively researched to provide an accurate and functional depiction of the armies of both sides. There are three introductory one-map scenarios depicting critical periods in the campaign that use an abbreviated set of rules while still maintaining the historical accuracy of the campaign game as a whole. In addition, there are three larger multi-map scenarios that allow players to either play a short period within the overall campaign or play the campaign from various starting points. The 6 June assault is covered in two modules, the Airborne Assault Module and the Amphibious Assault module, which allow players to recreate both the airborne and initial amphibious assault stage of the campaign. The Amphibious Assault Module is played on a special Beach Display that shows each sub-area of the invasion beaches with units depicted at the company level. It can be played as a solitaire scenario. The campaign game can be played from 6 June to 22 August, with a total of 234 game turns. This is the third installment of the Grand Operational Simulation Series (GOSS), the first two being: Wacht am Rhein and Hurtgen: Hells Forest. All three games share a common rules set that's been extensively updated and revised to simplify game functions while still maintaining the design of the earlier games. In addition to the basic rules, Atlantic Wall includes a set of exclusive rules to cover the special requirements of the amphibious and airborne landings and the logistical system required to support the armies coming ashore.Contents:Seven 22"x34" map sheets4,480 die-cut countersONE GOSS Rules bookletONE Exclusive Rules bookletAssorted Player Aid Charts & DisplaysTwo 10-sided diceStorage bags

Hold the Line

Take command...of the American and British Armies in twelve great battles of the American Revolutionary War. You'll feel the battles come to life as the American militia and continentals face the feared British elites as each try to hold the line at the battles of Long Island, Harlem Heights, Weitzel's Mill, Trenton, Hobkirk's Hill, Eutaw Springs, Bemis Heights, White Plains, Kings Mountain, Brandywine, and the double scenario covering the morning and afternoon battles at Monmouth. Uses Clash for a Continent game system. As British leaders you've told the American patriots to lay down their weapons or you'll lay waste to their lands. And as the Americans you have pledged your lives, fortunes and sacred honour in defence of all you value. Take the role of British generals Howe, Burgoyne, Cornwallis and others as you stake your reputation on defeating the rebel armies. And as American generals Washington, Greene, Gates and others as you've precariously placed your army in their path where the outcome depends on your decisions... The enemy approaches, the sound of cannon deafens, men shout commands, smoke fills the air, can you HOLD THE LINE!

Chicken Caesar

For most roosters life is short, boring, and meaningless. But in our coop things are different. We have risen above the ignorance and confusion of our species to establish the Pax Gallinarii. We are industrious. We are organised. We are ambitious. Here, a rooster can live forever.- The Annals of Coop HistoryPlayers represent the roosters of ancient Roman chicken families vying for legacy in their coop's Romanesque government.Defend the coop from prowling foxes or bribe the guards to turn the other way. Fix elections and exile politicians who won't bend to your will.In the end all that matters is what history says about your family, and history can be rewritten.Contents:1 Gameboard1 Tax Rate Pawn2 Wooden Tax Tokens14 Traditor / Vigil Cards177 Die Cut Tokens1 Oversized Suffragium Pawn42 Rooster Cards42 Wooden Rooster PawnsRulebook and Reference Cards

La Bataille de France 1940

In May 1940, the Second World War took a turn which would change world history forever: the German armies invaded France across the neutral territory of Belgium and The Netherlands. Doing so they avoided the fearsome Maginot Line, behind which the French army, supposedly the best prepared of the era, felt safe and far from danger. France had surrendered against all expectations, in less than two months and the British Expeditionary Force had been evacuated by a near miracle at Dunkirk.La Bataille de France 1940 recreates the events of those days and allows the players to reproduce the most famous battles of the Blitzkrieg on the Western Front at a tactical level. Players take command of either the Allied or Axis forces (or can play solitaire) in the tactical battles of each scenario.La Bataille de France 1940 (LBF40) represents the jump of the War Storm Series (WSS) from the Spanish Civil War into World War 2. Based on the system originally used in A las Barricadas!, the first game in the WSS, LBF40 incorporates new and adapted rules for the World War 2 era. The WSS promises many hours of fierce fighting between the infantry, tanks, artillery and aircraft belonging to the armies enveloped in this conflict.LBF40 have a moderate complexity with good solitaire suitability. The system emphasizes the role of officers. Officers can activate units, coordinate with other officers and their units, call for artillery support, air support, smoke screens, influence morale checks, coordinate assaults, and much more. Rules for special actions. Based on the principle of simultaneous execution, or simply "WE GO", a hybrid system of turns and "real time". The players must activate unit leaders to perform many actions (fire, assault, move, coordinate, etc). A turn ends when both players have completed all their activations. The scale is company level with units representing groups of between 30 and 40 soldiers, weapons units represents groups of 3-4 weapons and their accompanying crews (20-25 soldiers), and the AFvs-Transports representing groups of 3 to 5 vehicles and their corresponding crews. Scenarios are divided into turns representing about 12-15 minutes of action. Turns are divided into the following phases: Command Phase, Initiative Phase, Activation Phase and Marker Removal Phase. The game uses isomorphic mapboards, each of which are aligned to any edge of equal length on any other mapboard. This allows for an almost unlimited number of combinations to create any terrain situation, including player designed scenarios. Each map hex represents a distance of approximately 150 to 200 metres. The series rules are easy to understand but each game's scenarios require a solid application of various strategies to win. The result is a good balance of fun, fast-paced, and exciting game play, using realistic game mechanics. WSS games are highly re-playable due to the variety of unit types, numerous scenarios, varying leader capabilities and random leader selection, and therefore represent great value for your gaming buck.Game Components:4 Isomorphic Maps4 Sheets of Counters (2 of 5/8" and 2 of 3/4")1 Rulebook6 Scenario Cards featuring 12 scenarios2 Charts and Tables Cards2 six-sided dice
