Join Us or Die

Announcing the Fourth Force Pack in the Echoes of the Force Cycle

“He will join us or die, my master.”
–Darth Vader, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of Join Us or Die, the fourth Force Pack in the Echoes of the Force cycle! The galaxy is locked in the tumult of the Galactic Civil War, and new events raise the stakes of conflict daily, as every faction in Star Wars™: The Card Game discovers new uses for the Force.

As the Dark Trooper Project enters its second phase on the factory ship Arc Hammer, the Rebel Alliance recruits the secret agent known as Winter to engage in covert espionage on Imperial activity. Meanwhile, Jawa scavengers ravage the desert wastes of Tatooine, and on the swamp planet Dagobah, Jedi Master Yoda prepares you for your future struggles against the powers of the dark side. The battle lines between the dark side and the light side have been drawn. Now, it remains to be seen if the light side can resist the full onslaught of the Imperial Navy.

Full Ground Assault

The Imperial Navy’s units don’t possess as many Force icons as the strongest Jedi or Sith, but that just means that you need to use your Force cards carefully, rather than trying to outmatch your rivals in icons card-for-card. In Join Us or Die, the Imperials gain ways to use their Force cards to play to their high-pressure offence as they establish a crippling assault force and receive some new Reinforcements! (Join Us or Die, 581) at the same time.

Reinforcements! offers a new Reaction to the Imperial Navy, helping you keep your units on the field of battle. When Reinforcements! enters play, you can put the topmost Imperial Navy unit in your discard pile into play, committed to the Force. Although you can’t necessarily predict which unit you will receive when Reinforcements! is revealed, committing a unit to the Force is a small price to pay for possibly receiving a massive Capital Ship without spending resources.

This objective set also features a copy of the new fate card, Echoes of the Force (Join Us or Die, 536). This fate card has myriad uses. It can force an enemy unit in the conflict to commit to the Force so that it focuses twice, or it can commit an enemy unit without Force icons, effectively wasting your opponent’s Force card. Reinforcements!, however, introduces another way for you to use Echoes of the Force. After a unit has returned to battle via the Reaction on Reinforcements!, its commitment to the Force may limit its attacks. With Echoes of the Force, you can remove the Force card, allowing your unit to wreak havoc at will.

Award Ceremony (Join Us or Die, 584) invites you to bring more units into play cheaply, provided you are willing to commit them to the Force. For two resources, this event lets you put an Imperial Navy Character into play from your hand and immediately commit that unit to the Force. Units like Colonel Starck (A Dark Time, 243) or the Imperial version of Darth Vader (The Desolation of Hoth, 195) are both strong candidates for Award Ceremony. But even without these heavy-hitters, the Reinforcements! objective set includes some powerful new units you’ll be glad to commit to the Force.

As you lead new troops into battle, the two Reserve Troopers (Join Us or Die, 582) in this objective set form a vital part of your reinforcements. For only three resources, the Reserve Troopers offer two  and two , along with Targeted Strike. This unit cannot be declared as an attacker or defender unless it is committed to the Force, inviting you to use your Force cards to build the power of the Empire’s massive armies. If this unit enters play with Award Ceremony, your Reserve Troopers will be committed to the Force and ready to attack in your conflict phase. With Admiral Motti (Core Set, 8) helping to remove focus tokens, the forces of the light side will be hard-pressed to withstand your attacks.

If you need more incentive to commit your units to the Force, look no further than Security Checkpoint (Join Us or Die, 583). This free enhancement immediately grants Edge (1) to all of your units committed to the Force, making them more effective attackers and giving you a headstart during your edge battles.

The True Power of the Force

Whether you wield the massive firepower and unlimited resources of the Imperial Navy, or you seek to rebel against the Empire’s oppression, you’ll find a host of helpful new objective sets in Join Us or Die. Prepare for battle and delve deeper into the true power of the Force as we continue to journey through the Echoes of the Force cycle for Star Wars: The Card Game!
