Manor of Ravens

Announcing a New Expansion for Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition

In the foothills near Greyhaven there sits a forgotten manor, the haunted residence of the late high mage Ithyndrus. Antique trinkets and artifacts lie within its ever-changing walls, but the ravens that watch the manor are insufficient to discourage treasure hunters and bandits. A new guardian has awoken, and dark forces gather to his aid. Left unchecked, the power and size of this creature will never stop expanding. Its potential is limitless, and it must be stopped.

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce Manor of Ravens, the newest expansion for Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition. In this expansion, the heroes must travel to an abandoned manor house to destroy the terrifying guardian that gathers power within the house’s walls. Along the way, they will face deadly danger, and if the house itself comes awake, can any hero hope to survive? Introducing new monsters, heroes, classes, and items, alongside a new mini campaign, Manor of Ravens will lead you into entirely new adventures.

An Unkindness of Ravens

The overlord finds plenty of new tricks with the two brand new Overlord classes included in Manor of Ravens. When using Enchanter cards, the overlord enhances his monsters, granting them a variety of powerful abilities until the heroes can find a way to dispel the dark magic. The Unkindness class, however, introduces servants to Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition. Servants are the overlord equivalent of a familiar, and when using the Unkindness class, you can summon the Raven Flock to attack the heroes anywhere on the battlefield. The remaining cards in the Unkindness class serve to increase the power of your Raven Flock, as well as providing some unique tricks for the overlord to use.

The overlord receives a host of other deadly tools in Manor of Ravens as well. This expansion introduces two new monster groups: bandits and wraiths! If the heroes fall afoul of bandits, they’ll find themselves relieved of their riches. Wraiths, on the other hand, spread fear and despair wherever they move, freezing body and soul with their ghostly touch.

A new lieutenant also enters the scene as the heroes attempt to investigate the manor house. Skarn is a magical construct, composed of pieces of the manor house and possessed of limitless potential. If Skarn is not stopped he could continue to grow and eventually overwhelm the world. Only your heroes stand between this magical creature and the demise of Terrinoth.

The overlord also gains two new types of relics in Manor of Ravens. Whereas in the past, only the overlord’s lieutenants could wield a relic, monster relics are instead given to a monster group, affecting each monster in that group. Universal relics, on the other hand, simply remain in play, granting a powerful effect without being attached to a single lieutenant or monster group.

The Pursuit of Justice

Hero players will find new additions to their hero parties in Manor of Ravens as two new heroes step forward to offer their aid in your quests. Alys Raine offers her love of righteous justice to anyone seeking a Warrior for a quest. Thaiden Mistpeak, on the other hand, brings an eerie knack for tracking and hunting, using his skills as a Scout to pursue his quarry across the realm of Terrinoth.

Heroes will also find two new hero classes in this expansion. Warriors can devote themselves to upholding the justice of the realm by taking on the Marshal class, making the overlord pay for any injustice. Scouts, on the other hand, may find it more to their taste to become a Bounty Hunter, tracking one monster until it falls beneath their blades.

Cross the Threshold

Terrifying monsters and devious new overlord classes are not the only new dangers you will face as you pass the doorstep of the Manor of Ravens. A new condition awaits in this expansion – Doomed! If your hero or monster becomes Doomed, it must suffer an additional damage every time it takes damage. Although this condition can quickly cripple a character, whenever that character attacks, he may spend a surge to remove the Doomed condition, freeing himself from its noisome presence.

Dangerous secrets and a guardian with limitless potential lurk in the dark recesses of this haunted manor house. Will you venture within to save all of Terrinoth? Your newest adventure begins in the Manor of Ravens! Look for this expansion in the third quarter of 2014!
