A Word from the Developers

Greetings, Warhammer: Diskwars players!

Our first tournament season has begun and the North American Championship will soon be on us at GenCon Indy 2014. To support play at all levels, we have produced the first editions of the Warhammer: Diskwars FAQ and Tournament Rules.

The FAQ provides errata and clarifications to the core set rules, as well as clarifications on several disk abilities. It also addresses ability interaction questions.

The Battle Lines head-to-head tournament format keeps the fast tempo of the standard 2-regiment game and rewards decisive play. Regular tournament matches are 65-minutes long. This definitely encourages players to think on their feet, but leaves enough time to set up the battlefield, deploy, and still consider the crucial plays of the game.

Battle Lines is a Swiss-style format, so a player earns the most match points for winning the game by eliminating his opponent or scoring more victory points at the end of 5 rounds. A player earns fewer match points for winning a game that reaches the match time limit. As in the core rules, the player who holds the initiative token wins a match with tied VP.

However, we also feel that the Old World’s fate can only truly be decided in epic battle. For that reason, larger Battle Lines tournaments add a third “reserve” regiment to each player’s army list. Players who reach the top cut in these tournaments field their reserve regiments in 90-minute elimination matches. Therefore, the most skilled generals will be those who have mastered both the 2-regiment and 3-regiment game.

Thanks for playing and for your enthusiasm about the game! Remember to submit future rules questions by clicking on the Rules Questions link on the bottom of each page of this website.
