Ebla Restored Is Now Available

The Newest Asylum Pack for Call of Cthulhu is Full of Startling Revelations

Non-Euclidean calculus and quantum physics are enough to stretch any brain, and when one mixes them with folklore, and tries to trace a strange background of multi-dimensional reality behind the ghoulish hints of the Gothic tales and the wild whispers of the chimney-corner, one can hardly expect to be wholly free from mental tension.
–H.P. Lovecraft, Dreams in the Witch-House

Ebla Restored, the third chilling Asylum Pack of Revelations for Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game, is now available at your local retailer and online through our webstore!

The ancient city of Ebla holds forgotten secrets that could alter our very understanding of life and death, but will we be able to process such information? Or will it drive us mad? New Tomes and a celestial Library spur revelatory insight into powers beyond human understanding, but whether this knowledge is put to use to save humanity or destroy is a matter that can only be decided by those who explore the city. Two new Relic Hunters, two Investigators, and two Lunatics lead the charge. As they delve into the city’s abandoned mysteries, the stakes have never been greater!

Science and Revelations

Guest writer Marius Hartland takes a look at how all this extra information might impact humanity’s desperate struggle for survival in a world threatened by the Ancient Ones:

The summer of Miskatonic continues in the harsh world of Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game. While most of the University’s faculty try to keep their roots firmly in science, some members realize that theories of hypotheses and experimentation sometimes don’t work against the unknowable, and that remedies rooted in superstition and older lore may work in situations that defy comprehension. One day, these remedies may save lives, or the entire human race.

From their recent Revelations, Miskatonic’s professors have gained some methods to turn around unfortunate encounters and ensure that their research keeps going at a steady pace. Some redundancy is important, though, and the Professor of Folklore (Ebla Restored, 48) supplements Miskatonic’s science with alternative medicinal techniques. Interestingly enough, his presence may only encourage some Miskatonic to take more risks, since they’ll expect there is always a backup plan.

Those who subscribe to the Professor of Folklore’s mystical medicine may take truly drastic measures. Some may deviate from Miskatonic’s standard heroism so far as to bind a Guardian Elder Thing (Core Set, 109) to their service to make sure their investigations aren’t interrupted by prying eyes. These rogue professors appreciate the deterrence provided by such mass wounding and the safety granted by their ancient folklore.

All that colorful folklore can become particularly scary when you combine it with Miskatonic’s ability to win a story in one go. Randolph Carter (Search for the Silver Key, 63) or Open for Inspection (Core Set, 34) can allow a lone investigator and his pet monster to close the investigation right there and then. And if mixing up humans and horrors isn't your thing, you can simply pack a stick of Dynamite (The Antediluvian Dreams, 42).

People don’t join Miskatonic University to find strange monsters and giant explosions, but these things and stranger find their way to campus. Sometimes it's good to know you can always turn to your Professor of Folklore!

Thanks, Marius!

Will you heed the Professor of Folklore’s advice? Will you assist Miskatonic University in its efforts to thwart the Ancient Ones and all those who follow them? Or will you side with the cultists, hoping when the Ancient Ones rise, you’ll gain the power you’re due?

Take a side and dig into the secrets of Ebla Restored! This bone-chilling Asylum Pack is available now at a retailer near you and online on our webstore.
