Indeed, the Savoia Grenadiers were not dislodged from their hilltop positions, and were only compelled to surrender after being surrounded, when other Italian positions elsewhere had fallen. But despite their ultimate defeat, the Battle of Keren is regarded as one of the Italian Army's most impressive battles during World War II.
