He Conquered Madness

We Induct Another Worlds-Bound Champion to the Hall of Heroes

“That is not dead which can eternal lie,

And with strange aeons even death may die.”

–H.P. Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to induct its newest member into the Hall of Heroes!

Over the past several weeks, we’ve expanded the Hall with current and former World Champions, North American Champions, and European National Champions – all of whom have expressed their intent to attend the FFG World Championship Weekend. We’ve added champions from A Game of Thrones: The Card Game, Dust Tactics, Dust Warfare, and Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game.

Now, as we look forward to a weekend of top-level competition, waged between the top players from across the world, in our most truly international World Championships ever, we’re pleased to induct the second of our champions from Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game.

James Black

The 2007 Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game World Champion, James Black has played since the game’s earliest days and remains a threat in the game’s top-tier competitions.

James’ history with the game stretches back to its very foundations in its collectible era. He was the second person to post on the original message boards, right after Fantasy Flight Games CEO, Christian T. Peterson. Throughout the course of his long study of the eldritch arts, James has enjoyed a great deal of success .

You can learn more about James Black at his place of honor on FFG’s website.

Call of Cthulhu at the FFG World Championship Weekend

This November 10th, the participants of the 2012 Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game World Championship Tournament will seek difficult and terrifying truths as they vie for victory.

With at least two former World Champions scheduled to attend, will one of them gain the blessings of the Ancient Ones? Will one of them gain the protection of an elder sign? Will Tom Capor win his fourth straight World Championship, will James Black devour his foes en route to new glory, or will we see some other cultist or investigator outmaneuver them both in their efforts to unlock the darkest and most ancient of riddles?

Pre-registration for the FFG World Championship Weekend is now closed, but you can still register at the door. And for those of you who are so unfortunate as to be unable to attend, you can keep your eyes open for more information about streaming coverage of key matches, including games of Call of Cthulhu.
