Through a Forest, DarklyPlayers Return to Middle-earth at the FFG World Championship Weekend
In September, we posted our schedule of events for FFG’s World Championship Weekend (pdf, 2.1 MB). Fans of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game quickly noted that in addition to our World Championship tournaments, we had scheduled a special The Lord of the Rings Fellowship Event for Sunday, November 11th.
Now the question arises: what is this Fellowship Event? First and foremost, it’s a chance to undertake adventures in Middle-earth with players from outside your standard play group. However, it’s also a chance for players to discover frightening new surprises in an area they may have once considered fully explored.
The Lord of the Rings Fellowship Event
He had picked his way stealthily for some distance, when he noticed a place of dense black shadow ahead of him, black even for that forest, like a patch of midnight that had never been cleared away.

During The Lord of the Rings Fellowship Event, players will face new dangers in the Mirkwood. You’ll work together with friends and strangers as you return to the dark and tangled woods and undertake new adventures.

Each participant is encouraged to bring the following items:
- Your deck
- A sideboard of as many spare heroes as you wish
- Your Core Set quest and encounter cards
NOTE: Participants are encouraged to bring extra heroes to use as back-ups in case they sit with other players using the same heroes.
Middle-earth is a place of wonders and magic, but it’s also a world of myriad untold perils. Participants in The Lord of the Rings Fellowship Event will be the first to blaze new trails into the heart of Mirkwood, one of Middle-earth’s darkest, deadliest, and most infamous realms.
The FFG World Championship Weekend
Pre-registration for the FFG World Championship Weekend is now closed, but interested players can still make plans to attend and register at the door.
The Lord of the Rings Fellowship Event is just one of the extra steps we’ve taken to ensure that the weekend of November 9th – 11th is a blast for everyone involved. The FFG World Championship Weekend is more than a collection of seven World Championship Tournaments. It’s the pinnacle of our Organized Play, and we’re hosting three new World Championships, crafting unique participation prizes for each of our games, hosting a world premiere tournament for Star Wars: The Card Game™, judging a Dust painting contest, and streaming coverage of select events all weekend long as part of a greater effort to better involve all members of our global community.
