Breath of the Dragon

The Valyndra Descent Lieutenant Pack Is Now Available

The unmistakeable shadow of a dragon falls on the land of Terrinoth, threatening heroes everywhere. No longer contained to her lair, the Wyrm Queen Valyndra is now free to roam the length and breadth of Terrinoth, collecting treasure and burning those who cross her path to ash.

The Valyndra Lieutenant Pack for Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition is now available at retailers everywhere and online via our webstore!

A Fiery Path

Like other Descent Lieutenant Packs, this one offers you a sculpted plastic figure to replace the lieutenant token included in Lair of the Wyrm. Valyndra will tower defiantly over the heroes, ready to crush them beneath her claws. As impressive as she is, Valyndra is even more dangerous when you summon her into combat as an agent. Her Fire Breath ability can cut a swath of destruction through the midst of a party of heroes, and her Aura prevents heroes from approaching her without taking damage.

Even when you don’t summon Valyndra to directly oppose the heroes, she can still impose her will upon your campaign with her ten-card Plot deck. Over the course of a game, you will have opportunities to collect threat tokens, which can be spent later to trigger powerful effects on various Plot cards.

Valyndra’s Plot deck, Dragon’s Greed, offers you a variety of ways to punish the heroes and defend your treasure without even summoning Valyndra. Most enhance the already formidable power of your Huge and Massive monsters. For example, if your Huge and Massive monsters will undergo heavy combat, you may want to invest in Aurium Plating, which raises a monster group’s health and make them immune to Pierce during an encounter. A more offensive option in a speed-oriented quest could be to use Massive Bulk to force the heroes away from their objective. By triggering this Plot card, you enable one of your Huge or Massive monsters to move over heroes and force them to move to the closest empty spaces, potentially shoving them away and blocking their approach to an objective.

If you want ensure the heroes fail a critical attribute test, Terrifying Presence can provide you with the tools you need. While this Plot card is exhausted, every hero within three spaces of a Huge or Massive monster loses one point from all attributes. Lowering a hero’s Might in particular works well with Valyndra’s Punish the Weak Plot card. This Plot card allows your monsters to spend a surge to deal one additional damage for each space that its base exceeds the hero’s Might, crushing heroes under the monster’s massive weight.

A Dragon’s Power

Whether you use Valyndra’s Plot deck to rain fire and ruin on the heroes, or you summon the Wyrm Queen herself to the battle, her fiery influence is sure to oppress all who oppose your will. Pick up your copy of the Valyndra Lieutenant Pack today and obliterate the heroes of Terrinoth!
